But new customers arn’t playing that dated content right away.
They are playing BFA and soon it will be DragonFlight.
And then they might try out older content and be like…
“WTF? AND I PAY 12$ FOR THIS VISUAL CRAP?”
Most resonable players will accept content that is 20 years out of date for what it is.
City Of Heros and SW Galaxies still had players.
I am a reasonable player and for a game that I pay roughly 623€ for a full DLC rotation (a full DLC rotation from start to finish ~ 2 years) I do expect visual quality, considering that other games manage to just stick to their own visual art style from start to finish that were released 10 years later than WoW.
Actually the game assets could very easily be updated by 3D Artists, if given the time, to at least update the game VISUALLY. A quest design overhaul isn’t really needed at the moment til it becomes relevant.
What i hope for is that in “LAST TITAN” Azeroth will literally wake up breaking the whole planet in 2 pieces, “thanks” to this cataclysmic event we will be moved by Valen`s spaceships to completely new planet. Everyone, Alliance and Horde…new WoW 2 …at completely new planet
I dont care what a full set, bad transmog + a paladin thinks.
You guys alway support the worst ideas and go on a crusade for em.
The last paladin i saw here was going on a huge rant about how early access and us paying to beta test a subscription based game is a good move.
Kalimdor and Eastern kingdoms have been updated in Cataclysm and that is enough. All TBC zones need to be revamped.
Agreed with every word
Outland is not our planet. Azeroth needs an update every few expansions. That’s how to keep old world evergreen and relevant. We are not denizens of Outland, except for orcs. And they are not good enough reason to throw away resources to the zone we are never going back again
We also don’t need new places to go every expansion.
In my opinion, this expansion, Dragonflight should have been postponed and instead of it, we should have have a time of renewal expansion. Updating old world, see what races are doing since there is peace etc. A filling expansion. year of it would be enough. 1 major patch and two small ones would be perfect.
Imagine bringing old world dungeons on pair with lvl 70. That would be a reason for me to start playing pve again which I stopped during ICC because it became boring.
Focusing on removal of DF RF and restoring back communities in WoW as we had and have in pre cata world.
Hell, even Ghostcrawler, who i can’t stand said that Dungeon FInder and Raid finder are two things he regrets the most for implementing in the game
Azeroths awakening don’t have to mean cataclysm pt2. She can easily leave the planet in spirit mode and materialize away from it. Maybe some tectonic plates displacements which would update the old world but distraction, no need for it.
Not updating Azuremyst Isle during Legion was quite a surprise to me. It was THE Draenei expansion.
I agree with you about Outland not being our planet(I am just saying the questing experience there is horrendous. I detest leveling there.).
I hope Isle of Quel’Danas will be included in the Blood elf zone updates.
The old map is old we say yes to revamp especially with Goblin shredders.
I on the other hand love questing in Outland. Just lvled my new Nelf warlock and went through it. Still as fun as I remember. EVen disabled experiance gain to do every single quest there.
Maybe it is, maybe it isn’t. But I’ll tell you what is necessary: A great first impression to the game. And we don’t have one because the game world is in the state that it is.
Fundamentally we have a levelling experience that is designed for a different game than the one we’re actually playing these days, and Blizzard are air brushing that aside by instantly sending new players to a tiny area - railroading them into something with a different theme than the one they might want to play.
Whether it is the levelling gameplay or the world that has to change is up for some debate, but what I do know is that WoW’s levelling isn’t hitting the mark, and I also know that’s a major blocker for getting new players, and quite frankly I get the impression that Blizzard don’t care about this.
Personally I think they both have to change because I believe Blizzard have broken it in two distinct ways that, in addition to being broken in way they interact, they’re broken individually as well. It doesn’t matter if the world gets upgraded as long as monsters outscale the player no matter what the player does and there is no sense of progress. It doesn’t matter if the combat gameplay is entirely fixed if the player gets to feel no connection with their race and faction as they create their characters and start exploring the world.
All is this can be fixed and it has to be, but turns out they’d rather create 3 new expansions instead during the time of 2 at the normal rate, so… I don’t know what to make of that.
If hypothetical new player wasn’t living under the rock for the last 20 years he would’ve know that this game is 19 years old and visual disparity is perfectly understandable.
It depends on how large azeroth as planet is, it may as well be that finding one continent is like finding a needle in a haystack.
BTW dragon isles weren’t found, they were simply abandoned
A full world revamp aka all of the EK and Kamildor is impossible. It’s about 40 zones and the work of 4 expansions. Will never happen.
As the green poster said, they are doing some partial revamps which honestly are likely to be more like remakes of parts of the old world where the story makes sense.
But after midnight and TLT i fully expect a new continent.
The problem with revamping old zones doesn’t lie with graphic updates but with overall quest design and story telling.
Most of the people who are against any form of revamping old stuff support their claim with Blizzard’s current ability or inability to tell an engaging story.
Cataclysm stuff is consistent and told in a serious manner. If it is meant to be replaced by this wholesome, colourful and PEGI 3 story that is borderline unbearable by someone who has 2 digits in their age number, then maybe it is better to not touch old zones at all.
We can all agree that with Dragonflight it seems like Blizzard decided to shift it’s target audience to Kindergarden demographic.
If World Soul saga is going to be nothing more than a coloring book for children, then damaging effect it may have on the playerbase could be even greater than what WoD had.
As we are right now with the story one thing can be said for sure. Conflict where people fight against other people is over. It’s not gonna happen.
Now it is going to be story about prople against great evil. World endangering threat. Big magical and mystical cosmic BS baddies.
No ground level. The idea that Quel’thalas may turn into battlefield between some celestial forces where we all band together, hold hands and blast baddies with the power of friendship and family fills me with dread.
Better be it stuck in TBC forever rather than turn into this kind of turd.
Lmao. LoL. RoFL
How much consistent garrosh’s character, could you tell? and how much there are seriousness in UD and goblin questline?
Also name atleast one questline with zero jokes and quipping, i dare you
