Then you complained too late about expansions and instead you want a horizontal progression in the sense that you need different gear for different instances (where resist gear comes into play, etc)
Please read what I write before you comment on it.
No I never said that.
I obviously didn’t mention how every aspect of the game could be solved, hence the examples. I was talking about a broader picture of how scaling could work, but you don’t seem to have understood.
Up until this point I’d say that’s my favourite part of the game - just exploring things. Then the “overarching plot” comes in, and my reaction is like Anduin in one of Shadowlands cinematics “here she is again ”.
Art team does a good job. People seems to like the sound part too. Local finished quest lines sometimes are interesting too. There are some visual hints here and there that seems interesting (like the thing in the Maw that looks identically to the Reliquary of Souls) for possible story implications. I wish there would be a proper update for archaeology, then I would be much happier with making solving a puzzle out of visual clues, archaeology discoveries, battle pet flavour texts, etc.
Honestly, I do not think this is any worse than the game being in awe of Anduin / Jaina / etc. If I can steal some spotlight from those narrative black holes - that’s a win in my book.
I wanted to make a comment about Khadgar, but I am irritated by his moralizing too much to say anything that is not . Burn the heretic.
You know, my experience with Jaina in the Shadowlands is such:
Darion says how impressive it is that Jaina solo defeated an elite mob in the Maw.
I look at the solo killed Serath (nobody wanted to help me, till I got the mob to about 10% hp; no interesting loot from it, sadly) and think “well, is it really impressive?”
Yes, I am playing a draenei, she is a human, and my main spec is arcane, not frost like Jaina, which gives me advantage. Overall, my opinion about her is “meh”. With some damage / HP normalization between us, I’d say give me a fully charged Aluneth and we would beat her just fine.
Not to mention that Jaina was just sitting there doing nothing while the whole Kul Tiran activities were on the player’s hands. I hope the game will acknowledge she would not become another Kul Tiran leader without such help.
Yes. And given how sceptical I am of most characters in the game, I would not even call it that bad. Now, the fact that at the same time I have no impact on the game world / story progression is a deal breaker when it comes to the execution. But I am sure, a random draenei is a more interesting thing to look at than most of those “esteemed characters”. IMO.
As N’Zoth says:
Thief. Renegade. Murderer. Servant.
Your crimes are terrible… numberless… glorious…
Role model indeed.
Bwonsamdi (Soulbound):
Ya did well with me tasks. I be thinkin’ ya show promise. Ya might be worthy of a deal. Very well, I pledge ta lend ya me powers ta use against ya foes. In exchange, ya be sendin’ one million souls ta Bwonsamdi! No need ta look shocked, ya be plenty capable of doing dis.
Xal’atath (after beating all raids in a single expansion):
You were a good choice. No other wielder has murdered their way across a continent like you have. I admire your endurance.
Remornia should like such company.
Xal’atath (The Tempest Crown):
It is no mere coincidence that our paths intersect, name. You were meant to find me. I was meant to find you.
Why do you think so?
IMO if the game would reflect this by giving a chance to affect future story developments (something like voting / picking stuff) that would not even be all that bad. However, it is WoW we have here, where we are oh so great, yet do not even know the details of that last BfA “peace” whatever.
Mythic Sylvanas kill?
IMO the problem is that with me things do no matter anyway, since the game does not follow up the PC focus.
feels more like instance of warcraft as of late, atleast legion had some spectucular scenary and presented some vibrant places for us to go like suramar.
theres no reason to interact with the world in shadowlands unless you like farming world quests
That’s very true. Even though Suramar makes no sense in the continuity of the overall lore with W3 in mind, it at least felt alive. We helped an entire nation, got involved in their politics, met many different characters all which felt different to each other. A wise leader, a snobbish mage, a wisecracking technician, a shady assassin there was defo a variety. We saw them changing from half withered to full elves, and it justified that mana gem grind thing (whatever they were called) you didn’t want them to go all “withdrawal symptoms” mode.
Now it’s all overtly tough maldraxxi soldiers, or overly pious flying smurfs, overtly proud vampires (still not sure if they’re meant to be ironic or they’re just that badly made), and furries. I find it very hard to care about any of them with very few exceptions.
