World of Warcraft: Dragonflight Talent Preview - Priest

im saying if im with a demo lock who has CD’s now but my voidform is in 30 seconds the correct play woukle be to PI buff them for their CD’s and i would have to lose out. Also twins is going to be a mandatory pick because of how string PI is so this is always going to happen if you want to optimize

Then you take your hands off the wheel and just follow what the online guide says, as it always has been for minmaxers.

People don’t play anywhere close to good enough for them to apply for most cases, lol.

Rune of power is pretty much a dps loss for the majority of mages, as an example, because they don’t know how to use it properly. So many mages I see that use rune of power and then instantly have to move due to aoe. These people just read a guide and go “oh, rune of power is the go to talent, better pick it” and then fumble it at every opportunity, making it a pointless pick and the passive talent would be better.

but thats not fun at all, i dont want to as a SPriest have a weakaura tracking my teammates CD’s and wait for them to be ready so i can use my CD’s, also my point with PI being mandatory is more the case the PI means its very hard for a Spriest to make any meaningful choice in the base tree. because this combined with teh shadow side leaves you with very little to no options for flexibility.

Also min-maxers dont just follow guides they dive in deep to understand the class and spec they play and what is best for any given situation. People who just read online-guides are not min-maxers their the opposite, min-maxers will have a talent tree for every single boss and dungeon each given careful thought about the types of encounters they will face

Call it what you want, but you’re not picking stuff based on what’s fun to play, and that’s the other side of the coin. Priest has 2 healer specs, and being a healer is all about supporting your teammates so an ability that buffs others makes sense. People don’t want the ability neutered because of DPS’s drama in pugs/glorified pugs.

If it’s a pug, the priest should use it as they see fit. If it’s an organized group, everyone should be mature and agree on what’s best for the team. If an organized team can’t agree on what’s best for the team because people can’t see past themselves, then it’s just a glorified pug.

finally we can choose not to do void form thanks for finally listening to me. Took you 7 years.

https://www.wowhead.com/dragonflight-talent-calc/AABsQRFQGYGBVAWQoBAgEBAABmOVVWVFUREAAIKBYBQ this build gonna be insane.

Yeah, because setting up a macro to use it on the highest dps or a meta spec that you know will benefit from the haste requires so much skill. For all the good things you can say about PI, a high skill cap on using the ability is definitely not one of them.

Thank god this got posted few days before my game time expires, I was considering getting a 6 months sub, but now I am definitely not doing it unless they fix this abomination of a talent tree. I had high expectations after seeing Druid Class and Restoration talents, but Priest Class and Holy ones are a complete joke compared to that, big disappointment

Is it just me or theres a purify on disc priest but not for holy? does that mean holy is left with disease dispel and mass dispel only?
Also why is there 2 talent rows that do exactly the same thing: reduce the holy words cd’s; just mash em together and place something more exciting in one of the rows

Sad that they are keeping Void Eruption…

Imagine if they could re-implement the old class racials and put them on the talent tree for the eligible races. It would feel great to get back Fear Ward on Dwarf Priests, for not to say also giving it to Gnome Priests as it was the Dwarfs that taught the Gnomes about the priesthood.

Purify is baseline for Holy, they will make it baseline for Disc as well later, rn that talent is a placeholder

I do not think it creates unbalance in healers, other healers have other benefits.
I have not been harassed for PI ever
PI is a spell priests have had for a very very long time (originally it was disc only) the use of it before had conditions attached - maybe restrict it in this way (arcane power, heroism, lust etc)
As a longtime priest player I would not like them to remove PI

You know, since Shadow Mend is now available to Holy priests, I wonder if it still replaces Flash Heal. Since it’s not outright stated it still remains to be seen.

Yay, they kept and didn’t nerf PI. Only thing I don’t understand - you get to put points in both priest and the specific specialization? Like 31 points in Disc tree and 31 points in Priest tree. Or is it just 31 points available max?

My biggest complaint by far with the shadow tree ia that why the hell is so much of our utility in that tree?

Why is silence in the spec and not class tree? Same with last word.

Same with psychic horror.

Or the choice node with mind bomb and psychic scream.

Dispersion and its better version are also in spec talent tree, when they should be in the class one.

Same with hallucinations and vampiric embrace / san’layn

You told us that you would NOT make us choose between damage and utility, yet SP has by far the most of all the shown specs so far situations where that is the case.

31 in the class tree, and 30 in the spec tree. You get your first class point at level 10 and then you get a spec point at level 11 and so on alternating each level.

Because if it’s in the class tree it would be available to healer specs as well, don’t be silly.

Why shouldn’t it be?

Its their words, not mine. They said you would NOT have to put damage versus utility in the spec tree.

Depends on what. Silence is a spriest spell, and I can see how hard it will be to balance if given to other specs. A 30 second cd silence is a powerful tool.

Dispersion is also too much to give to holy/disc as they have enough survivability tools as it is. Also has to do with class fantasy, holy priest dispersing into shadow is pretty ridiculous.

As for Vampiric Embrace, the other specs don’t have nearly as much single target shadow damage, so kinda useless for them.

Now that’s just ridiculous. How is Hallucinations even supposed to work for holy/disc?

Also you’re not choosing between damage and utility, you need either Silence or Mind Bomb/Psychic Voice to advance past the 3rd row no matter how you look at it.
