She was in WoD actually, as a little side note. Her and Mankrik were just kids, she was Mankrik’s Girlfriend at that time.
I actually liked that little meme honestly.

At least that time you found her alive
Ironically you do meet solid portion of villains though for whatever reason seems like writers were more keen on trying to at least provide some closure to TBC cast like Kael and Lady Vashj… And Shafting Arthas which understandably angers some. Personally I kinda never really cared for the prince that much being even since W3 firmly in Illidan’s camp
Don’t know why, but that made me remember how there’s that cinematic that has Sylvannas pretty much nearly one shotting the Lich King like he’s nothing. I know she’s crazy powerful at that point, but come on.
I had to rewatch the cinematics, I can’t remember them all
The first is fantastic, it makes me want to enter this world. The places and races is beautiful and great to look at.
And the first BFA cinematic is very powerful in it’s own way. The sorrows, but also the need to be part of something bigger and the pride in it.
The last BFA cinematic where Sylvanas kills Saurfang is also great, but I just get so angry everytime I see that one; Sylvanas that Mature filter activated
I can’t find anyone I think is just bad. They are all really well made.
But the Legion cinematic didn’t spring the desire to enter the world as much as the others, I can’t say why, it just didn’t have that ompf some of the others have
Rewarched the first 5 and so far and still. First one really is just timeless. Illidan’s monologue in second still sends chill down my spine but the overall presentation of two new races also feels spot on telling us just enough about them.
Third one… Impressive visuals but I feel they relied too heavily on the fact that Arthas is fan favorite. Ironic juxtaposition between what we see and words of his Father is nice flair but not really making me want to go there if I wasn’t already knowledgeable enough.
Cataclysm… Ok I’ll get some flak for it but it felt stronger than WotLK. It wanted to sell us the main threat and for me they succeed. For a character that for many would be unknown Deadwing just really sells me on that he’s a massive threat if even just him trashing in his lair as his minions bid his body together with steel plates sends world into havoc.
MoP… I may be weird but I just had that one big massive grin watching it. Does bringing in goofy aspect of the franchise to a forefront after so many expansions of grim and broody clashes in? Yes. But for me who still remembers sarcastic, silly and funny moments in old Warcraft games including 3 it just felt right.
That cata intro is really cool … PAIN … AGONYY … but holy hell is deathwing absolute pansy git … whole cata kinda sucks and deathwing is absolute disappointment xD … not to mention after Illidan and Arthas, everyones reaction was like “who-wing again?”
It was like playing doom music to new barbie trailer …
For me it still felt stronger than WotLK cinematic. Without having strong connection to character its just… Meh? And honestly for myself I was way more interested in fate of Illidan (cutscene rendered in game engine made his fate ambiguous at best and “welp he’s dead” at worst) and Sylvanas (who’ll have to carve a place for herself and her undead now that they’re free from Lich King influence) than Arthas.
I liked arthas, so wotlk was big hype and warcraft 4 for me … Illidan, not so much, his tbc intro is really cool tho …
Sylvanas was my favourite too… as far as lore is concerned one of the reasons I dont like retail is what they did to her … some chaotic stupid aligment or whatever the hell was their attempt … completely dumb and boring and instead of proper ending for her, she gets sent to do daily quests until crappy blizz writers need new clickbait for next xpac …
Respectable. For me back when I was playing W3 Arthas was just… Fallen Hero. One of many and from my recollection it was quite popular trope in the end. Or at least it didn’t stick with me. Illidan was more fresh in my eyes since despite parallels between him and Arthas the half demon never fully crossed the line that would make him a full on villain. While Arthas succumbed to the power of his sword losing his soul and becoming the pawn of Lich King and cut down those dear to him, Illidan even after becoming half demon still remained himself still holding love for Tyrande and to a lesser degree for his brother. It did resonate stronger with me. Made me feel bad for him in the end.
Legion cinematic trailer is not about some epic adventure like the other cinematic trailers.
It’s about going to war against great evil in order to protect everything that you hold dear, despite knowing that the odds are against you.
It didn’t gave much hype for the adventure. It never meant to. You must understand the resolve and bravery to go into battle against stronger enemy who is also higher in numbers to appreciate Legion cinematic trailer.
I understand it.
It just didn’t gave me the desire to enter the worlds as much as the others did
Fallen paladin sure is overused trope … and completely unrelated certain archetype of elf with two swords whos evil but actually not and so edgy you could cut corners with him and his name starts with D and ends with rizzt is one of the reasons why I never liked Illidan xD
Oi unlike him Illidan wasn’t a softie that bemoans the need to kill in order to survive. Drizzt falls more under the “Token Good Orc” trope while Illidan is well intentioned extremist.
I think that humor in MoP cinematic trailer actually worked quite well.
You must not forget that Pandaren was initially sort of joke race. Didier’s Easter Egg within WC3.
Although I must admit that I’m slightly biased here, as I’m big fan on Jackie Chan and Stephen Chow and I enjoy “martial art action comedy” a lot more than “sheer brutality martial art action movies”.
Also after grim and serious narrative of Cataclysm events, MoP tried to ease up a bit and IMO it did perfect job on that as it completely ridiculed the entire WoW.
Couldn’t agree more. Although I’d swap Cataclysm for “all the expansions before MoP”. You can only go so far with dark and brooding before you get into comically edgy. It probably also has best arc words… Can’t find a proper name but the Line “What is worth fighting for?” Just strikes a very specific chord in me
Zen Master Philosophy? Taoism maybe?
Honestly, I still have mixed feelings about MoP expansion. As much as I like Asian mythology and pop-culture around it, with Toriyama’s Dragon Ball being what sparkled my interest in manga and anime as child and later Hong-Kong martial art action movies as I grew older, I actually enjoyed watching Kung Fu Panda movies, Played Blade & Soul before it was even released for the Western market, I still believe that it does not fit well into World of Warcraft.
Eh my mixed feelings come mainly from the fact that Blizz felt the need to make the war clear cut good vs bad and turning the one sane character into anti-horde Zealot (ok they gave her reasons but still). On the bright side at least Blood Elves finally established themselves as more than just Yes-man to Forsaken.
Theramore was probably only the last drop. Although it was more of an giant wave rather than just drop.
It was gnawing at her long before Theramore’s Fall since she lost her father, was branded as traitor and cast out by her homeland for her decision to trust in the coalition between Alliance and the Horde to defeat the common enemy.
Horde also changed radically since third war, namely because of Forsaken who never shun away from committing war crimes long before Battle for Azeroth.
To be fair her old man had that coming as far as I remember that custom campaign as he was the one that attacked first in the name of Alliance.
Guilty as charged. If I recall correctly undeath does change a person and most forsaken simply cannot experience good emotions anymore due to that. Though it can also fix a very screwed up person. Interestingly enough before WotLK they did keep that stuff relatively contained so it seemed more like last resort before Sylvanas went south…
Looking at the cinematics alone, without context of the expansions.
