WoW Classic's Season of Discovery Phase 4: A Critical Take

still counts as new

your reading comprehension is terrible.
this is a complaint that they are doing something wrong, not right.
ST loot is objectively garbage, and even after the updates its not that much better.

I totally agree on what @acuti just said. Its 2024 and we deserve faster updates on a monthly basis given the fact that we pay a monthly subscription for this and we’ve done this for years. There are games that have way lower budgets, are free and give updates on a monthly basis. At this point i’m starting to believe blizzard is lucrating on it’s users just by launching some “cooler” versions of Wow in all it’s forms.

Hot take:

There should not have been a P3. We should have gone straight up to level 60. Level 50 feels like a waiting zone, getting a bit of gear before we go get better gear in 5 man instances - and they need to buff that gear up, or else they remove 5 mans from the whole game experience. What most of us want is to get to 60 and not be raid ready. We want to have to go do a bunch of Strat, Scholo, Dire Maul etc. because that content is fun when there are rewards to be had.

The only reason this delay is an issue is that phase 3 is just not very good. They addressed the bad leveling up experience in P2 (SM spam runs, yawn) poorly. They should have put energy into something more rewarding than spamming incursions over and over, which was even worse than SM runs. So leveling was a drag, but when I tried taking time out for questing, it was so evident that questing was giving 1/10 of what I’d get in incursions, it felt utterly unrewarding.

Then we get to p3 top level content. A single raid on a weekly reset, and the gear rewards, due to overpowered gear in earlier phases, aren’t even very interesting. Everyone began raid-logging, and then quit. The server empties.

For PvP, they did their testing and got it right. P3 PvP is the best PvP in ages. It feels balanced to me. I play mage primarily: hunters wreck me. Warriors struggle against me, but if they have CDs up and I don’t (trinket, escape artist etc) then it’s not unwinnable for them. Spriests are tough, but not unbeatable. That’s my experience - YMMV.

But now we’re in the worst of all worlds: there’s no content left. The PvPers have got their Exalted ranks with BGs, the PvE’ers have nothing to do, and so the game is now empty.

Taking time to fix things like class balance is good. It will reduce player whining, and mean they have to do less of it at 60. But ultimately, this phase ran out of content in 3-4 weeks for most players, and so the delay just means there’s no game to play. Leveling up alts, the traditional “I’ve maxed” response, doesn’t feel purposeful when there’s nothing to do with them, and nobody to play with.

Incursions ruined everything and people eat it up. Instead of questing, dungeons, having adventures, they do incursions, which give multiple times more gold and xp. It’s garbage content that smells like retail wow. Same with the wild offering stuff. Maraudon is such a great instance and I can’t find a group for a full run, because everyone just wants to rush princess

I cant

Not only that. The rep gave a great tier set far better than anything beside Gnom gear.

And in a world of classic Andies gatekeepers 1 key rotation parses heroes , being able to get all of that solo was great.

It did however invalidate normal classic content.

Ye, still have not set foot in ST cause I have no xp there and no gold for consumables lol

You don’t need any experience as a shaman ,nor consumables, just to press insta kill button

yo! dont give away my pvp tactics!

yeah, they ruined this game. no more money for this indie company. also diablo 4 is big fail and they even still want money for october patch with new class and call it “expansion” which costs 75% original game. bye bye
