WoW got woke too much

ye, i’m not going into this.

it’s clear that blizzard wants to make the game feel more inclusive for everybody and i love that.

keep on complaining about female characters, black/asian people in wow for all you want, see how far that gets you

Perhabs you should go back to 8chan, that seems to be more of your thing.

Yeah so hypocritical but I’ll stay quiet for my own sake. As dear Nosinna said. You are absolutely right. And just to add I am not complaing that they are there. I just don’t like the lack of meaning that’s all.

Because she sure seemed super concerned about everyone turning on her, including her own people.

I loved Sylvannas until BfA. Her lore was amazing, now I am just sick of her. Poor writing.

I do agree with the premise of the thread but Sylvanas is just scraping the surface if youre going to look into the whole “female empowerment” undertones going on in BfA.

If youve been paying attention to whats happening in the zones, all the side quests, the questlines etc. youll notice a huge prevalance of strong female characters.

On Horde side you will encounter female chieftains. On alliance youll encounter female pirate captains, female miners, and so forth.

Female characters are pushed to the front more than ever. There are still male characters that play significant roles in the expansion’s narrative(and some questlines) but compared to previous expansions male presence has definitely been “pruned”.

Majority of the leaders are female now. Allied race leaders, faction leaders… even the amount of female villains has increased this expansion.

The expac was advertised with the 3 warmaidens at the forefront as well, after all. Women are succeeding men.

Daughter of hellscream is succeeding Grom. Talanji is succeeding her dad(and being super op). Jaina is succeeding her dad(and being op af). Sylvanas is pretty much flipping the finger at the patriarchy at every turn.

A lot of the times the female characters are given spotlight at the cost of pushing the male characters aside.

But dont take my word for it. Watch the interactions between Keeshan and Shandris in this video.

https:// www.youtube. com/ watch?v=OS0-PCfyrIc

@ around 1:57

Shandris: Keeshan, why do you keep calling me ma’am? You’re allowed to be at ease.

John J. Keeshan: Ma’am, I read your file from SI:7. You’ve been alive for more than ten thousand years, fought in more wars than I can ever imagine.

Far as I’m concerned, I’m barely worth of serving next to you. Least I can do is call you ma’am out of respect.

Shandris: You are a hero in your own way, Keeshan, from your service in the first three wars to your acts of heroism in Redridge.

So, keeshan, the embodiment of badassery and literal Rambo of the WoW universe feels emasculated in Shandris’ generous presence.

Further @ around 14:11

Keeshan: I’ll be… good as new in no time… shouldn’t have been me, though. Your friends shoulda survived.

Shandris: Elf, human, we are all equal, Keeshan. No one of us is more valuable than the other.

I don’t know, man. Something about a night elven general preaching about ‘equality’ seems wrong. And I’m certain a 10k year old sentinel is likely to be more ‘valuable’ on the battlefield than a human soldier.

Exactly it’s over the top, I know. I am not against strong females being represented but I am against it when they do it Chuck Norris style like with Sylvannas. In fact my favorite character in WoW is Tyrande and I would love it if she got her revenge. Night elves deserve it.

No, no, no.
‘‘But’’ is where everything that comes after starts to go wrong.
People should be represented, and I can’t wait to play my asian Human, just like some people probably can’t wait to play their black Human.

Dude or Dudette I am not against asian or black or whatever race of people being represented. But if there was some explanation added I would appreciate it. That’s all I am saying.

You don’t need more explanation than people should be represented, that’s all.

A mentally weak, emotionally charged psychopath who’s every action in driven by her own fear, who displays insane levels of arrogance and apathy towards her own people?
Who gets most of her power from Daddy Jailer?

Friend, if you think she’s supposed to be some kind of feminist icon then you might want to take another look. The fact that she’s (now, thanks to Daddy Jailer) very strong in combat doesn’t really count for much.
She’s only strong physically and she’s certainly not independent.

If anything, having the female lead be a raving, emotionally unstable, murdering lunatic driven almost entirely by fear is misogynistic more so than it is feminist. She does NOT have many positive qualities.
Though I wouldn’t say it’s either - it’s just regular bad writing.

Really? Humans of Stormwind have always been kinda like humans from Lord of the Rings. And out of the blue they are not anymore. If it was done Kultiran style imo would be a lot better. But ok

That’s a genuinly silly statement.
Finding it weird that there’s many types of human in a world where evolution did not take place is a perfectly valid stance. It is weird, and an explanation would be nice.

I have a feeling they are going for the whole modern Maleficent type of redemption and ‘misunderstood’ arc with her being the good guy all along.

I’m just curious how you fellas balance this out with screaming about genocide.

I see a lot of annoying politically correct characters around, Sylvanas isn’t one of them. Try Jaina.

Bad writing and Blizzard go hand in hand…

She’s the edgy villain / anti-hero with a tragic past.

Who is the most memorable and most admired character of Star Wars?

Darth Vader.

Is he a good guy? No, but everybody thinks he’s cool as heck, and everyone accept that his good side won, in the end, despite him also committing genocides, and killing children and whatnot.

So you’re missing the point.

Oh. I wasn’t aware that people of different races had Blizzard employees break in to their rooms and smash their computers up, yelling “NO! You aren’t supposed to play this game because you’re insert characteristics here”.

This “Muh inclusion” talk is nothing more but corporate speech trying to buy people in with goodfeel touchy-feely spiel, which may or may not be insincere.

By the way, on what sensible WoW Lore grounds do Asian characters make any sense? At least I’ll be able to make an accurate Kazuma Kiryu character from the Yakuza games, BUT I don’t see any part of Azeroth that would make sense for Asian Humans (And no, Pandaria never documented native humans)
