By email? Otherwise you have to buy the digital version first and you only get it refunded as balance.
I’ve been buying the CE since TBC and th codes are always included in the box.
In fact I couldn’t tell you of once single game I bought that had Special/Collectors edition not inclued in the box.
I have had Pre Order codes sent out a few times.
I’ve got all the CE boxes, I assume they’re making one for Midnight. Otherwise i’m not going to buy it lol
I guess around late October we can preorder the boxes.
Just because it’s always been the case, doesn’t mean this is the best way. We pay the highest possible amount for a product, I expect instant access to all the digital perks what’s included with the physical goodies.
It does seem crazy to me that they dont send the code via e-mail. You bought the game online most likely anyway, so that doesn’t make any sense.
But then you’d have 2 codes. Do you not see the issue here?
the reason is simply: because it is a physical copy.
Imagine being a parent buying this for their child, you have no account yourself so it makes no sense to activate it on the account you buy with because you might not have an account to buy it with.
And what if you have an account but its intended as a gift for someone else? now you cannot give it to them because the code auto activates on your account as you buy it.
These are among some reasons, legit reasons to buy physical copies. These are reasons as to why a physical copy comes with a verification code.
Because of but not limited by these reasons; It is simply the norm and it will continue to stay the norm if it hasn’t changed by now, several years into digital purchases being a thing.
How so? There is one code in the physical box, would it be too much for asking to digitalize the one code which otherwise is printed to a piece of paper?
You personally get the epic digital, then the physical collector’s and then you get a refund to your blizz balance cause you purchased the epic digital twice.
One extra step but what for? To keep your irl money in blizz balance?
That was the case when you bought game time on scratch cards yes. You pay full price for a product, some part is digital some part is physical. I’d like to see my digital access as soon as cause I’m e.g not going use a character boost option in a three days early access period. I wanna use it way before a new expansion release, to prepare a toone, when nothing really happens.
for the low low price of £500 you can own the collectors edition box
comes equipped with a box of tissues to wipe away the tears of shame
How do you know the code in the box before purchase?
and to address the blizz balance, I add balance every 3 months anyway for up coming mounts and pets I might want.
How do you know the code when you purchase the digital epic?
It is automatically added to my account, no codes needed.
Same as with pets and mounts, they are automatically added upon completion of purchase.
So what does prevent blizz to automatically add the epic digital to my account upon purchasing the physical collector’s edition?
But yeah, ait… Waiting it is then!
Because the code is printed on a card INSIDE THE SEALED BOX.
I used to be upset about the whole not getting the code by day 1 (though for several expansions i’ve gotten the box few days early so it’s not been a problem) now though, I don’t really care tbh. For two reasons;
-
With the ‘early access’ bs, the magic of the release day is gone. No longer is it a thousand people waiting by the org docks at 23:59 for the new zepp or boat to arrive. Now it’s divided into multiple release days
-
Even If that wasnt the case (i think the early access should be gone and I have bought all collectors edition boxes) it’s not like you can’t play the game day 1 (unless the servers are cooked), you can still login (hopefully) and do other asdasdasdas . Like i’d clear out my bags, clear the quest log etc. Do other sorts of preparation. Not ideal, but still not you’re locked out of the game.
