but paying doesnt mean your going to win does it? lol these items in wow dont give you an advantage because you bought it with real money now if these items had some added bonus because of using real money then yes you could call it p2w
Whether you can use that power well is beside the point not to mention that winning is a relative term so it means different things to different people.
The point is that in WoW you can obtain power - or other goods - by paying real money which is the core of the P2W system.
your missing the point its still doesnt give you an advantage unless it gives you a bonus stat/skill or if its an item that gives an advantage that cant be obtained by playing the game normaly without paying
This is exactly whats happening with people who buy boosts.
If you are subbed only to get tokens and buy a boost at the end of the lifecycle of content, you are playing the game wrong.
But that power doesnt only come from items / gear.
I can deck out a mage in full 475 gear if i want too.
But if i cant play the class or cant be bothered i am still not winning.
And that’s up to you to decide, is it?
No game is build around the fact of buying boosts.
Developers always build a game about to be played.
Blizzard didnt make nyalotha or Nzoth so hard on mythic to just wait till players can buy boosts.
But i guess thats a difficult subject.
I’m not missing anything but you are.
I can be a casual N Raider and I can pay real money to obtain high ilvl gear - power - which normally I wouldn’t be able to obtain with my low skill level.
That’s not how P2W works. P2W is a system which allows you to bypass in-game systems or even player skill to obtain something usually very hard to obtain or something which doesn’t exist in the game.
A good example of that was the P2W system in old Korean MMOPRG RF Online which allowed players to buy roulette-style boxes that we’re able to drop max. upgraded weapons which were obtainable in-game by playing but the chance to achieve that was absurdly low due to item being destroyed if you fail to upgrade one of the stages of the item. In the end, pretty much no one had real max. upgrade weapon but tones of people had those items from cash shop boxes
If someone plays the game like that and enjoys it, I can’t see the harm in it tbh.
To each their own.
I’ve read a lot of stupid things in my time here, but this is definitely up there as being one of the worst. A noob in shiny armor is still a noob. You can’t buy skill, which is what is needed to win fights against players with a brain.
Sure but this doesn’t have anything to do with the fact that - objectively - you can be playing/doing something in a wrong way.
Which has nothing to do with game being P2W
right and where are the cash shop boxes in wow? there arnt any all you are paying for in wow is convenience and nothing more
You can’t buy raid drops from the AH? This was a common complaint amongst the P2W complainers.
You can buy one or two BoEs, but not en entire set no.
You can’t use tokens to buy 5 mask visions boost for loot? Or M+ runs?
Yes, that’s why Method spent 6k euro to buy BoEs for the race.
You can pay real money to obtain a lot of gold which then you can use to buy rewards and power which normally you wouldn’t be able to get due to various player or in-game limitations.
Yes you can.
As long as i can use my gold to buy tokens for gametime, i dont care.
