im just going to say it…
i don’t like alphinaud… hes just as annoying as anduin.

To be fair he’s not as useless as Andiun. (he actually does heal you properly in encounters)
…Or literally any other WoW npc.
oh, yes. 100% agree, he’s even more annoying.
Last night my partner offered to pay the subscription for FF14 if I wanted to play it after seeing it in the playstation store. I said no but I have that small voice in the far back of my head calling me an idiot for not taking him up on it.
should give it a shot i think most people are surprised by it once they do.
Literally nothing is lost just by trying it out. I was skeptical at first and defended WoW pretty fiercely in debates with my friends about WoW vs FFXIV until I tried FFXIV and realized my stupidity.
Agree to disagree then.
I hate the color orange, is a perfectly fine opinion to have without any explanation.
I didn’t say it was.
I talked about the japanese way of storytelling and conversations. That goes beyond anime; I notice it in live action series and movies too more often than not.
And yet you claim pandaren are … what? Anime? Japanese?
I know you just used the word ‘obviously asian’ to describe them, but there’s a world of difference between japanese culture and chinese culture. So to drag them into a discussion about a japanese game with (according to some) anime vibes, is silly. No, worse; foolish.
But all of that is moot, because the japanese (or any other asian) culture is not the problem. The way of storytelling and conversations and music is. It’s very jrpg-esque and I simply don’t care for that whole genre. And no, I’m not going to explain why I don’t. Just accept it.
I hate the colours Neon Green and Neon Yellow in combination with Black because they burn my eyes.
…Pretty easy to give a reason for “why” you feel a certain way, imo.
No? I claimed they’re the most obviously asian, which they are.
Oh please, you probably haven’t seen the videos released by Blizzard back during the release of MoP on how they developed Pandaren but they literally show you which parts of asian -particulary Chinese- culture that they were most inspired by, and which elements they wanted to directly include.
I personally don’t see that at all, so let’s agree to disagree.
I can accept your opinion without finding it valid, so i’ll go with that. It just doesn’t add anything to the conversation at all.
I tried it like 4-5 months after A Realm Reborn released, knew no one playing it and just simply left. At the time I was playing WoW with work colleagues.
Think I managed level 30 something.
That’s not relevant. Whether it’s easy or not.
You say someone’s opinion isn’t valid if they don’t provide an explanation.
And I disagree with that notion (not in all cases of course).
Whut?
What in the holy hell does that have to do with anything?
My point stands. You putting them into your post is borderline racist.
And in the best case scenario; just ignorant.
Sure thing.
Neither does your opinion on my opinion.
Yet, here we are.
Aah fair enough. Idk how FFXIV was back then but I hear that people say that ARR is the worst content of all expansions, and that it only gets better with each expansion, up til Shadowbringers (current latest) which apparantly is amazing.
I haven’t hit that content yet so I can’t really say.
I think that was the reboot of FF14 online, they’d taken it down at one point iirc because of the complaints from the original release.
yea … a realm reborn was the rebooted release…
after the major failure of the original attempt
You’re on a forum giving your opinion on things without backing them up with anything which is absolutely pointless because you’re not adding anything to the conversation.
People these days call any sort of media coming out of asia ‘weeb’, that’s where the whole stigma comes from yet World of Warcraft is the biggest offender when it comes to having races that look “asian”, so hating on any other MMO for being “Weeby” while at the same time being a world of warcraft player is pretty hypocritical.
That was my point.
If you don’t want to try FFXIV for being “too weeby” or “too Japanese” then you shouldn’t be playing World of Warcraft either for having races that are “too asian/chinese”.
Bwhaha get out of here. How is any of what I said even remotely racist? I didn’t give Pandaren dǒulì hats. Blizzard did.
got to hand it yoshi p though … he didnt run and hide because of the failed release… he owned it and came back swinging with a much better and honestly good game.
They actually made the initial failure and ‘death’ of the original FFXIV part of the lore.
They have cut alot of the ARR stuff out apparently. I just got through it after a week or so of playing but ive been busy so its probably done faster. Its also meant to be the worst of all the story lines and I found it to be 6.5/10 - Didnt blow my mind or do anything genre defying but it was a nice enough pace and by the time I got to the end I felt I knew the main story line, a bit about the world, had formed opinions on the main characters and knew my class a good deal more (tho instantly switched to samurai)
I did make a point of joining a free company pretty quick as I did want to have people to play with eventually and even just see people in the chat. Though the novice network is really really good.
I say give it a shot- especially if you have hit all your goals before 9.1 like moi
Yes, I think the whole coil of bahamut was actually telling that story.
yup that is the whole premise to the original story :)… very clever imo… like it was planned that way all along.
As well as the reason for why “nobody can remember the faces of the heroes of light” …is because they were the players’ previous characters. Mind was blown when I realized that, really well done of them imo.
