40 man raids are archaic, 20 is too much like retail. Keep it 10.
âwe also always wanted to make sure that any 40 player raids that exist remain approachable (i.e. able to be completed in pick-up groups) and that they maintain that âsoda and pretzelsâ feel of 2019 Classic raiding, where you could bring almost any group composition or experience level and have successâ
Straight from the bluepost made by the lead dev of SoD lmao. Looks like the core part of the game is intended to be catered towards pugs being able to clear the content in a seasonal game modeâŚ
Yeah? The content isnât hard.
The key word there was âremainâ.
Thatâs way too much like retail, no to 10man. Worst format ever made.
As much as I would like to do 40-man raids , Iâll admit itâs kinda of a hassle even for guilds to gather that many people. Especially for the season of dads where everyone has real life commitments.
20-25 people are the best imo.
I agree 40 men instances now belongs to the past, it requires too much organization and prevents casual players to enjoy the end game content.
Are you fried? Remaining implies every raid that already existed in Classic that isnât MC.
You seriously think trade chat pugs are gonna clear AQ/Naxx when there is no incentive to carry bad players anymore? Hell if the quality of players that iâve found in lfg and trade are anything to go by already, trade chat pugs are gonna struggle even in MC/BWL ffs and its a glorified loot pinata raid.
Iâm fully aware the content isnât hard bud its 20 years old. Gnomer has more mechs in it than the entire MC at this point. They expect you to be able to pug 40man content, Good luck pugging 40man content without some form of screening process.
âMust have 6/6 clear, full world buffs and consumes, Gearscore, Logs, PHD in not standing in fireâ To join a loot pinata raid that gives you free items. People complained about gatekeeping in BFD and Gnomer which is INTENDED to be cleared by everyone.
If the average pug struggles to get into content that is basically free and advertised as a LEVELLING UP RAID, what makes you think people are gonna wanna carry them in 40man when it gives BiS items in the game?
I hate to break it to you chief but the âAverageâ player will not clear the content even if it isnât hard without the help of the good players. Some people struggled going 5/6 in BFD ffs and the fight is literally 2 mechanics and an IQ check.
40 man in a pug setting is not âApproachableâ by the casual playerbase. Cause if you think gatekeeping was bad for 10man its gonna be even higher for 40man pug.
why would I take my time to get 25 good players to bring 15 mediocre that can possibly make the raid take longer/unnecessary wipes? I just bring 40 good players guarantee the kills and wait for my next reset.
No one wants to spend 6 hours of their free time carrying someone they are never gonna meet again through easy content that has already been cleared for the millionth time if it actually involves some time to setup/logistics. This has already been proven in a raid that could be blasted in and out in less than 30 minutes. And basically no problem to setup.
People want to get in and out smack their bosses for 30 seconds and collect their loot and go next.
For good players this doesnât matter. But go look at WCL and see how many bad players there are compared to good and tell me who makes up the majority of the playerbase?
Cause it sure as hell isnât the playerbase at the tip top of their game. Its the casual barely knows rotation, married, 5 kids, 2 dogs, 3 jobs, gamer dad. And those are the people that will struggle to find groups with all the underlying prereqs to join a pug for a 2 mechanic 30second fight.
There is no incentive to carry bad players through content outside of a guild anymore.
If people struggled to join 10man they arenât gonna have any easier of a time getting into 40man raids. Those same players that PuG/Gatekeep 10 man will still be playing the game at 60, people wonât suddenly have this wake up call of wanting to help carry people through content even if its easy if it requires a whole bunch of logistical BS to set up every week.
People that have options will just play with the people they can guarantee efficient and clean clears with in a reasonable time frame just because the content is easy doesnât mean people wanna waste more time than they have to doing raids they have already done before.
You separate the sweats from the casuals even more and the barrier to entry becomes even higher, and when the vast majority of your player base are the casual players. Its stupid as a business choice and for the success of your game to isolate the two from each other, when it isnât a mutual benefit for both playerbases to mix they wonât do this naturally. And like it or not, the average casual classic player is gonna need help to clear the content. While the sweats will not need any help from the casual playerbase at all outside of them posting consumes needed to raid onto the AH. One needs the other far more than they need each other.
All of this is coming from a player that will have no problem getting into 40 man raid content and plays a spec that is basically mandatory for any group that has melee in it.
This problem doesnât effect me personally at all. But i am not making up the majority of the playerbase either.
Yesterday trying to find 1 to heal the last spot already clearing trash for 10-man gnomer. After 2 hours of searching, we gave up.
Not all guilds have that many members to make 2-3-4 raids, so sometimes you need to go pub.
But regardless of that, I want to see how 40man will turn out, sounds like a lot of fun and wipes. ItĂs not for inpatient people who leave your group because tank went afk for 2 mins because he needed to poop.
This will make game hard again (less hard due to runes, but hard enough for casuals)!
Wrong, Bad take really. What is there on retail that resembles 10 man? Absolutely nothing.
You can Raid with 10 man on retail. What the hell you are talking about
Retail raiding is 20 man idk when last time you played retail was.
It scales from 10 than goes up so yes you can raid as 10man on retail
Mythic Raiding is fixed 20 man
40 Man Ends my Journey in SoD, but if it comes to pass then so be it, been a blast.
I am enjoying my small 10 man raid team, we have 2 on the go in the guild which suits the 20 man raids.
But im not doubling guild size and trying to get a time where all 40 can be online at the same time, and i dont enjoy Pug life.
But still you can Raid HC with 10 manâŚ
Ok never knew that.
wanted 40 man. but i relized that this is not classic. and its not classic +, its just a broken mess , Zero chance that they fix melle hunters. 3 shotting peope, zero chance that they canfix, swooosh swioosh dead paladins. or starfire, across the map 2 times . honestly its getting rediculas. how whats to take raids serius when the game has so many isses.
As long as they can work more at fine balancing at lv60, thatâs all that really counts for me, there will be winners and losers at the level cap phases. but its such a short phase, iâm not too concerned with it to be honest, as long as i can clear raid in my team, all GG.
This is just stepping stone stuff in my eyes.
Blizzard bring 40 man raids to SoD = W
SoD â Vanilla
if you guys want 40 man raids feel free to play era
âAnymoreâ? Iâm arguing with a pro-GDKPer arenât I?
I donât see the problem? Are you telling me youâre scared that people who are garbage at the game arenât going to be able to do the content? Thatâs a skill issue and frankly, less people in the raid makes that WORSE.
In a 40 man raid, if 2-3 people mess up and die, no biggy. Each person constitutes for 2.5% of the raid. In 10 mans? Each death is 10%.
Furthermore, raid grouping requiring more people means that thereâs more room for non-meta specs.
How exactly is 10 man going to change that?
Same question.
No, it isnât. Auto-hit-Harry is still better than a wasted group spotâŚ
Then join a guild.
A lot of people consider âCataclysmâ onwards to be retail where 10man was the go-to format up until the âmythicâ difficulty was added in the Warlords of Draenor pre-patch.
Raids were then split up, go 10man for easy fast clear or go 20man for the hard content.
SoD still runs on the Vanilla engine. If you guys want 10 man raiding, go to Cata or Retail.
