Oh no I’d like to have options, that would be ideal but I have played several alts by now and I know better that not all classes are afforded that luxury, of having options.
So this is my beef, I hope that someone on their end did just a very poor job in designing these 2 runes and also decided to randomly put these in the preview.
while I agree the affliction lock rune looks crap, I think the tank one will be juicy for extra mana/dps
The affliciton should have been something like if you refresh a dot within its last tick of damage, then you get the left over + an additional tick, so at least you gain +1 tick per Dot re-applied which i assume would amount to a decent increase across all spells, rewarding good DoT management.
Then maybe something like it refreshing it in that 3 second window before it expires, reduces cast time of shadow bolt by 0.5 seconds and its mana cost or something.
I dunno things die to quick for an aff lock its sad, even some raid bosses are dead in 30+ seconds atm, barely any time for a DoT to expire
Unless they really make the new raid trash need to be tanked by a tank, and not a mage as it is in BFD, and for bosses to really hit hard on tanks that have not geared for toughness I think we are just going to get a repeat BFD where threat and damage is king and avoidance is an afterthought, you get it if you can as a bonus.
The main thing Affliction needed was a rune that made their dots be able to crit and maybe get 1 intellect worth 1 spellpower for their dots, that would have solved some of their scaling issues.
Tbh I opened my eyes second before reading and I thought the tick was equal to whole dot duration xd other rune is also not as good but its always something, I gues we didnt get as good runes as others cause locks are already good. I wonder if we gonna get more runes than those 2
The runes they announced for Warlock so far are absolutely awefull. But it’s not all the runes we’re getting.

UA, Pandemic (dots are able to crit); 30% haste after conflagrate, +10% crit/fire damage after crit, immolation aura for tanks… I don’t know, they feel kinda solid lol.
You are replying to someone who wasn’t aware of the datamined runes. As the datamined runes weren’t posted yet. With that said yes the datamined stuff does look good.
Destro has around +75% fire damage from runes according to the new datamine. The new rune changes from Affliction will add half of your crit chance to the DoT portion of your total damage dealt. Crit chance is around 5-8% right now and results in +50% inreased damage. DoT’s do around 50% of your damage as Affliction. So in the ideal situations where you stacked crit, you will do 2% more DPS from this rune.
The rune that deals damage on reapplying DoT’s adds no damage whatsoever to an optimal rotation. For max DPS, it should never be used since it means you’ll get to cast less fillers.
We still dont know what slots are gonna release…some say are only 2 (waist and boots) and some say 3 (wrist and not head) we will see…if we only get the belt and boots slot i think its gonna be bad…

At least pvp weapon reward is superb not like the item we will get (8 9 spellpower ring like a joke) after the many hours effort.
Feral will be in top2 pve and pvp if runes and items are correct, wait and see.

It is like classic for casters but Sod for melees.
Warlock will be one of the worst because we saw that even 1 new skill how much changes the class like in the example of druid balance

But i am not qqing, i prepared myself for reroll from first day of the SOD. This is blizzards game so motto is reroll to win.
Yea if we dont get Wrist slot i am also reroling to shadowpriest…
Dispression and shadowfiend helps a tremendously plus dispel 2 magics, and silence will be strong AF. We’ll see.
But man its so stupid if they dont release Wrist slot for warlock…
Atleast inform us about the slots so we think about what we want to main this stupid 2-3 months.
For the crit build you’re supposed to play the chest crit rune. Rune + searing pain 5/5 talent + 5% destro crit already gives 25% crit on SP. Rest is a bonus.
I am however sceptical as well. Hellfire tanking looks good on paper but heh. Datamined runes are better but w&s. The immolation one is great.
I am less then enthused with the affliction changes, but I’ve embraced being a fire ma-Warlock. Because it’s the only way to put solid damage into a raid. If they add Dual Spec…I won’t care because then I can affliction in PvP (badly) and Destro in PvE. I just wish they’d really take a serious look at all the instance damage they’ve added to the game and really give affliction something good. Like everlasting affliction should increase corruptions spell coef, for example because it’s…sort of medicore.
Today i decided to main shadow priest too.
Definitely i will come back lock at phase 3
But i wont play a phase with 0 dispel protection against double dispel.
I wont even mention about runes too. They are not only bad and super boring. They are very sad thou lol

Warlocks really got weak runes in phase 2, but they will still strong? a lot of sustain nice dmg, fear without cd, shield, healstone. i cant choose between them
Demo tactics give 10% crit, with searing pain skilled and the 5% base, searing pain clocks at 30% crit rate, no lake of flammes and no incinerate but who cares because of the pushback the cast takes forever anyways and no need for fire rain means less lifetap and more mana back. Oh and about 20% dodge passiv with something like 80% dodge while demonic grace is active and 45% crit or 60% crit with searing pain.
Not like aggro is a problem at this point with salvation or alpha buff depending if your ally or horde.
But the runes are boring, pretty sure we only get 2 slots in p2. We have 4 phases and overall 9 slots of runes spread out over them 25 (3), 40(5), 50(7),60(9).
