I would like to congratulate Anduin as being the mosted hated character on AD while not having a single favourite vote. Good job kiddo.

It’s quite telling that Sylvanas & Anduin are the two most disliked characters on the list (even if I think both are alright).

Sylvanas is atleast slightly more divisive in that she makes it into both the 5+ vote charts, where Anduin is just top bad.

What I like about it is that Anduin’s in that position because he’s written in a consistent manner people dislike, while Sylv’s writing has changed drastically for BfA.
Or to put it another way: the more Sylv changes, the more Anduin stays the same…

If this question had been asked at the start of the expansion, I’m fairly certain Anduin would have quite a few more features in the favourites list, given that he was leading the Alliance into war.
It’s really sad to see though, because while Sylvanas has, while generally liked more earlier, still had a bit of divisive nature for people.
Anduin was, as far as I remember, pretty well-liked in his earlier appearances, primarily Cataclysm and MoP. Then took a massive nosedive that hasn’t recovered.
Can’t wait to ask the question at the end of Shadowlands and see how the lists have changed.
I found him dissapointing ever since he came back in Legion personally. And the book that introduced his magical wishbones as canon just broke him.
Tyrande, Sylvanas, Arthas, and Kael’thas the big question marks there.

It is really interesting to see where non-BfA fo used characters have ended up.
I agree we might have seen Anduin with some favourites pre BfA, perhaps a different view on Sylvanas too.
Oh and thanks for the chart!! 
Very angry that Tyrande is so high up on the most disliked list. 
She’s been the peak of BfA for me. The Night Warrior arc, the model design, the refusal to accept Anduin’s peace; her character’s direction has been great.

My guess is it’s still lingering feelings from pre-8.1 stuff. Her showing in Legion* was real bad, to say nothing of her MoP performance.
*other than her dunking on illidan’s dumb memory crystal thing, that was pro.
I think her Val’sharah stuff is far more derided than it deserves (Malfurion doesn’t get the same clemency). I’ve seen far worse stories played out by roleplayers, and ultimately it did a good job of emphasising the sacrifice involved in her decision to defend the Temple.
I only wish she’d had a Warbringers vid

I do like the vast majority of WoW characters, even if I like some more than others. Even Nathanos and Sylvanas in a “love to hate” them reaction because they’re supposed to be viewed that way, and that is pulled off well. But I really don’t like Magatha. She always irked me, and in my current retail job I deal with enough angry old cows on a daily basis as it is.
This thread has reminded me of my great love for Night Elf lore and characters. I’ll chalk that up as a win.

Arthas - His story was probably my favorite of all of Warcraft, everything involving it was so beautifully done. That and he made an amazing villain.

Illidan - One of Warcraft’s most unique characters, I think. I was not so sure about his return in Legion, but he ended up getting the conclusion he deserved. Speaking of which…

Kael’thas Sunstrider - Incredible, until he got the short end of the stick in Burning Crusade. I think he was deserving of the same return as Illidan, because they are both really great. Could you imagine if Quel’thalas was ruled by Kael’thas today? I will be happy to see him in Shadowlands at least. Hopefully there, we will get better closure on him. In Warcraft 3, he had a great personality, and I haven’t actually seen a blood elf quite as interesting since Kael.

Khadgar - A character with something that is very rare to see in modern Warcraft main characters: personality. He is funny, charismatic and one of the more interesting humans in recent WoW history.

Vol’jin - Coolest and most promising Warchief we had. He did not deserve the end he got, which is probably one of my biggest disappointments when it comes to the recent Warcraft story. Unlike previous Warchiefs he was unique in that he was not an orc, and unlike Sylvanas he fit in with the theme of being a Warchief, as a leader and the face of a savage, tribal faction.
Worst:

Sylvanas - A complete train-wreck, I have so many problems with this one and the Forsaken by extention. Never fears failure, because she is protected by a big (writer’s) hand in the sky. She lost the Horde because she was scratched once with a blade and had a tantrum. Did it matter losing control of one of the most powerful factions in the world? Apparently not.

Azshara - A lot of the same issues as with Sylvanas. Always smug, (almost) always on top, no matter how much their plans are disrupted. For a character that had been in the background for so long, I expected a lot more.

Yrel - Annoying, very bland. We are expected to care about her for seemingly no reason.

AU Grommash Hellscream - Not worthy of being the namesake of his main universe self. MU Grom is probably also my favorite orc character.

N’zoth - Built up for years, only to turn out to be pathetic.

Bwonsamdi (that voice actor is just PERFECT), Arthas (the most-known, well-done character of all of Warcraft imo), Oculeth (I love his quirky, scientist attitude), Magatha (really interesting villain character!), Grom (the epitome of all Orc characters imo. Brutal. A bit of a hot-headed “fool” sometimes, yet a redeeemed and remembered hero of his people).
5 worst:
Anduin, Mayla & Baine, Illidan.
I can’t think of a fifth one though. 
I find it so sad that I have to put Anduin into the “worst” category. I used to really like his character before he became High King. While it makes sense for him to seek for peace (since he has done that since MoP) and being full of youthful hope, he got really tiresome in BfA… not to mention that his character now has dragged in the Horde into the armistice. Which is just … egh. I don’t know. He and Baine made BfA’s storyline become so stale and boring.
I think I don’t really have to talk much about Baine since most people have talked about the issues of Baine as a character multiple times before. I cannot stand the character as a leader for the Tauren because yes, while the race is overly peaceful and connected to the land & Earthmother, they are not gentle giants through and through. Sorry, but, even though she is a villain, Magatha is way more interesting than a super peace-loving Alliance sympthasizer. I like the brutal Tauren more, the enthusiastic warriors we got to know in Warcraft 3.
Last but not least: Illidan. My god, Blizzard. Just why. Why did they have to make an -entire- novel + expansion about him. And while doing so, butchering his character into so many pieces, just to have some reasons that he is now the “messiah” and 1 true weapon against the Legion. In Legion, Blizzard introduced the Illidan questline, explaining that he is now the “child of Light and Shadow”. But … why?
Why is he suddenly the prophesized chosen one-character, according to Xe’ra? And why did she NOT come to Outland earlier, so that the entire massacres during the Burning Crusade could have been prevented? Velen even specifically called out to the Army of the Light to fight against Illidan and flee from Outland! (Source: World of Warcraft: Chronicle Volume 3, pg. 140)
Ah yes. I forgot. Plot reasons!
Now even Velen trusts Illidan as an accomplice simply because he said “it’s time to stand your ground” before they departed to Argus? Excuse me, but when I look at the plot of Draenor, when I look at organizations like the Aldor and the Draenei soldiers arriving in the Howling Fjord in WotLK, I don’t really see the Draenei people as being a very “reluctant” people. Illidan declared himself Lord of Outland and -enslaved- Broken Draenei. But a few expansions later Velen is like “ok yeah dat’s true hehe … i was kind of a coward hehe…” NO. Arrgh!
Uhhh … yeah. Enough of my character peeves. 
These are my favourite and least favourite characters!
Also, these are just obviously my opinions. Other people like or hate the characters I’ve listed! I just can’t stand some of them anymore.
