Both yes and no. Hiyo here is a skilled enchanter but her tailoring is more hobby level, and mostly so she can repair and adjust her own clothing. Rather than her making full outfits for profit.
Lin has no in-game professions except for basic cooking, but sheâs an experienced healer, both as a mistweaver and conventional medic. The wars, especially the Fourth, really got her a lot of pracice in field surgery.
THIRTEENTH⌠What is your PROFESSION?
LOK-TAR OGAR! âŚand a touch of herbalism.
Elyriusâ professions are being very attractive and badass and also extremely successful (very humble also)
Blacksmithing and (metallurgic) alchemy.
Donât ask him to brew you a potion if you value your health.
Its a nice way to engage with RP outside of events, either as something for others to engage with, talk about or maybe even as background noise, or something to do inbetween events during socialization.
Easier for professions that donât need a workstation but even for thinks like blacksmithing you can think of things they donât need a forge or anvil for, think sharpening tools with whetstones or something like that.
I really like that you mentioned that because so many people boil the craft down to making potions.
Shoutout to my metallurgists, transmutationists, elementalists and ritualists
Usually, I do try to make something of a characterâs profession or give them one as part of a practical skill. A healer might also be an alchemist so as to provide different remedies, a hunter might be a skinner to sell hides at market, that sort of thing.
Engineering is a special case as it covers many things. A watchmaker? An artilleryman? Maybe you managed some crystaltech draenei archive? Maybe youâre particularly good at spotting structural weaknesses and strengths lending a hand to building bridges? Maybe youâre just really jazzed about making bombsâŚ
Professions have a lot of roleplay potential and neglecting that can be a disservice to the character writing.
Mori here hails from an ancient and renowned Highborne tailor and Enchanter family, and although I havenât really done much with it in way of RP, I am planning on incorporating it some more after I get back from holiday!
Ofcourse, with the tailoring lore from Legion-Suramar questline, I will incorporate that into the RP because it contains information over the ancient tailoring techniques of the Kaldorei Empire!
OOC, I also have Tailoring and Enchanting!
Justine is one of my oldest characters that I still play.
In the beginning I envisioned her being a âmadameâ of the old stories. Running a certain type of house where lost little lambs (She called them her sparrows) worked day and night to entertain and gather intelligence.
She had build a bussines out of is (and is doing so once again.) At that time Justine became an opportunist. She has not one profession that she has masterd, sheâs is not interested in doing so. She likes to maintain a variety of professions who can prove useful during any situation. Icly her profession is hospitality and espionage. OOCly, because of the items I choose engineering and mining for the fireworks and the likes.
I do not use the professions in game In Character.
You get additional points if you yell âI AM SUPREME!!!â and wear a metal mask that covers your whole face.
Consumer here is a seasoned scribe and that plays a rather large role of her character concept.
When QuelâThalas was ravaged by the Scourge she was left with nothing. A destitute civilian with a profession (teacher) that wasnât useful at the time. She was no talented mage nor a warrior of any kind, hence when she followed after the army in the hopes to find a purpose she was given the task of a lowly manager of logistics. A pencil-pusher, as it were.
During this time she learned of ways to transport the many enchanted items safely and how they were best stabilized. Due to the nature of the magic and the armyâs travels across Azeroth and into the Outlands this came with the required knowledge of inscribing binding circles, runes and glyphs to ensure that no wayward spells would interact with one another. Especially after demons were added to their forces.
A lifetime later she still utilizes her developed talents as a scribe to create wards and imbue spells in parchment for quick access. This both aids her as a warlock through the binding of demons and to dispel (or apply) curses through the understanding of how magic can be woven and put to ink. She also utilizes inscription to hide messages, lay traps or establish long-distance connections through fading and self-writing ink.
OOC she is both a scribe and herbalist so I can get some extra lore from the many profession-related quests.
My character Albert Telling is a gunmaker and a contracter for supplies, mostly supplies for himself, but adding other crates when possible to fill the ships and make them therewise cheaper. Not much have been done to his supplies yet other than some paid transport. But the guns are mainly rped in emotes and through sales at his store.
