“Dis… was our land. Troll land. We Amani was here before ANYONE! Da elves and their Alliance came ta drive us out. But we never give up. We never forget. Da elves took my eye. I cut off my own arm to escape dem. And now, dey fight alongside de Horde?! I spit on de Horde! I hate you… I hate you all. But I got a surprise for ya now… so come on in. De Amani never give up! We never forget! We never die. Dis is our land. You wanna stay, you stay here forever! We gonna bury you here. ”

Still one of the best monologues Blizzard has ever written.

My man Zul’jin, did they do you dirty. This isn’t the way to treat one of the characters that has contributed so much to the Warcraft mythos, Blizzard, come on.

I totally agree. Zul’jin had a lot of charisma, a good, moving backstory and is very interesting. He is one of their oldest characters and a favorite of mine. His Zul’Aman monologue is still the best in game for me.

Zul’jin deserves proper respect and at least more dialog or a quest line.

It’s good to know that we have official confirmation from Blizzard that Zul’jin was the bad guy. :joy:

Though really I didn’t need a confirmation from Blizzard to know that, but oh well.

You’re wrong on that. Zul’jin is a hero, defender of his people. Would he have been human he wouldn’t be in Revendreeth. There wasn’t a sin stone either.
Perhaps he was the soul Bwosnadmi lost.

I agree that to see Zul’jin reduced to a villain the way he has been in WoW is a loss in terms of the overall narrative. It does follow a pattern of Warcraft II heroes, though.

Of all the Horde-side hero units in W2, only Grom was redeemed; all others either died right there in W2 or were killed later, and as villainous characters. Perhaps Blizzard’s intention was to retain Grom in W3 specifically so he could die as a means of atoning for the Old Horde’s sins. In that case, Zul’jin had to be dumped along with Teron, Dentarg, Kargath, etc.

Still a terrible loss, though, because even in W2 Zul’jin’s intentions were more noble than the above characters. He could have been brought back in W3 as a sort of mentor character for Thrall and the New Horde, but now he’s just an Easter egg in Warcraft’s version of hell.

grom was not redeemed just because one naive human in a orc suit called thrall said so his probably suffering in the maw you don’t doom your race twice and go durr durr but i killed that pitlord so i’m totally a saviour now

Is there anyone from wc 1 that is still alive in Wow? Was medivh in there before wc 3?my first game was wc 2 so I don’t know

Just Medivh and Garona. Notice Medivh’s dialogues in W3 and how he intended to join the legends of the past…he thought W3 would be his last hurrah at the time (obviously it wasn’t) after the crap he pulled in W1. Garona was also in W1 but there have been a ton of retcons in her backstory since then.
