At 105% FCR you have only 8 frames per animation. This is the optimal fcr for a sorc. You can also run it at 67% with 9 frames, but it’s noticeable slower. You should better me more concerned about resistances. Think only that a sorc is not really going into the middle of mobes. It’s a squishy character.
If you really want a good shield that will protect you I would recommend this build in order to also have 105% fcr. Hoto and Stormshield(big block chance huge damage reduce), Vipermagi, Magefist, Arach and on off hand cta and spirit.
Lidless wall is always an option…but really… Spirit with 35%FCR combined with +2skills, mana pool and res is kinda bis.
Just my 2 cents.
No chance for Ubers with a sorc. It was doable with firewall sorc before nerf. Use the sorc to farm items and runes and make a smiter or smiter/zealer dedicated for Ubers(personal preference…other builds and chars are more than viable). This would be my advice.
There is a strange strategy were you could use Marrowalk in boots slot and use bone prison and try to confuse the AI and isolate the mobs and ubers. But it is very tedious and requires attention an a stash full of rejuvs. Doing ubers with a sorc seems to me like the kind of challenge you take when you completely exhausted all the others from the game.
Maybe it would be easier with a merc with Infinity…but still a very big challange in my opinion, especially with the build you have in mind. I think the strategy with Marrowalk is viable only with full tals.
Have this in mind, for ubers it is vital to have max lighting res, and ideally all maxed. Uber Mephisto has conviction aura and it will melt you with lighting damage. You also need to keep in mind that if you allow Diablo to spawn his pit lords that are immune to all damage except physical, even with the strongest mercenary you will be overwhelmed. And many other things that can and will go wrong.
A melee char with lifetap and lots of crushing blow is the less frustrating way to do Uber Tristram in my experience. It allows you to melt the bosses fast and not allow them to spawn mobs and become overwhelmed.
Hope this helps. Cheers!
Don’t bother with shiled that gives +XX% to block chance, block speed as you are a sorc you don’t put points in dexterity (that’s needed to max block chance) , so it’s kinda useless. It’s not because you’ll wear a sanctu that you will tank the mobs in hell.
For ubers forget it, a fire/ cold/ light sorcs can do them but with perfect end-game gear
I mentioned in another thread that balance was needed in the game because only a handful of builds could do ubers and hence this was bad design. Many people shot me down in flame and said that just about any old build can do ubers.
Just reporting the forum’s opinions on this matter…
I already have it on some shield from Nightmare or late Normal. I also have runes for another one, but I’m in Act 1 Hell. Do you think I can buy some good base for it already or should it be later?
Just farm Nightmare cows(this will guarantee max 4 socks) until you drop a white Monarch and Socket it at Larzuk. This is how I got my spirit base. Cheers.
Every class has a build suitable for Ubers. Some are cheaper than others.
For example:
Sorc- Bear build(obscenely expensive…it needs 1 dream helm and 1 dream shield and of course Beast)
Pala -Zeal or Smiter(the best…even with shitty gear…I did my first uber with a Wizzspyke in main)
Barb - Frenzy, whirwhild or concentrate builds
Necro - Summon
Assassin - Kick or blade(veeeery tedious)
Druid - Fury
Amazon - Light Javazone
Some are better than others…some are cheap…some are ubers only, other’s like the Javazone or the Zeal Pala are more well rounded builds suitable for more game content. But from the multitude of builds I think about 20% are also suitable for Ubers, and as you can see some classes are better than others, so I wouldn’t say ‘any old build can do them’.
Upped Visceratuant has a very high blockrate of 72%, Mosers Blessed Circle is the other low strength shield that can easilly retain max block. Rhyme and Sanctuary runewords can be used.
High Strength shields like Stormshield and Gerkes give high surviveability.
If you make a max block sorc, you still need to adress faster hit recovery, or you can get shield blocked for 6-8 frames till a hit gets through, and you get caught in a 15 frame hitrecovery animation. This is how people die saying they got shield blocked to death. You should have at least 20 fhr, and perhaps aim for 42. And that should allow you to get out if you get caught in a mob, as well as a vita sorc with 55 fhr from Spirit.
