Blizzard has no motivation to fix servers

Diablo 2: Resurrected is a single purchase, they already have your money. They will wait for enough people to quit so that those who are left can play. They will not invest in new servers this early in the games lifecycle because they know the numbers will drop naturally over time.

Blizzard: This is the last time I spend money with your company. I am genuinely appalled that your response to your game being popular is to prevent people from playing it.

I’m 42, an engineer, and a physicist. I have worked at large companies and know exactly how they operate.

Based on the vitriol, baseless assumptions, lack of grammar, and insults in your reply; I would say you are the “Stupid kid”.

Iam 58, IT Specialist, and sorry, English is not my native language. You all judge without background Information. thats stupid.

The issue isn’t so much their lack of knowledge. The issue is, Blizzard has extensive background in large server populations. They had the most popular MMORPG for over a decade or more. Their titles include many you can ONLY play online.

Regardless of your “I am engineer and physicist // IT Specialist” statements, this doesn’t alter the perception of your customers. That perception being the company known as Blizzard has a handle on these sorts of numbers.

They don’t care that your servers are running an old bit of code as a singleton that handles too many important tasks to be written this way today. They don’t care that it needs to be deconstructed and re-written to accommodate a more modern streamlined approach that databases employ.

All they see is a company that should be able to X, and instead they are Y; and what’s worse is they spent money on it.

They’ve spent money on a product they literally cannot use. As you’ve both no doubt read, they will spend hours in queue only to CTD in 15mins only to end up back in queue again. Then they are told they cannot refund. Let them post what they want, ultimately it’s more important for them to rant in frustration and express themselves than it is to be “technically correct” about the issue. Mainly because it’s an issue they cannot directly influence at all, and have no impact on it’s completion and implementation.

Alright men, here’s the plan!
We start a computer game company! We advertise, we promote, we get people talking!

Then, we hire some devs, top of the line devs, to design some games to sell, but here’s the thing, we specifically tell them to make sure the games DON’T WORK!

Okay, so, after we’ve made sure the game don’t work, we do some more advertising, promoting, and we get people pre-purchasing!

They give us the money, we give them the unplayable game, and by the time they figure it out, we’re long gone, sipping Piña coladas on a beach in Tahiti!

MUHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA!!!

You left out the part where we let a larger publisher buy our indie company for hundreds of millions, then bail.

What am I thinking right now is that where is this mindset of releasing unfinished game with bugs and unprepared servers like this coming from? Is Blizzard forced by Activition to do this?

Back in the old days, if the game was not finished, they would extend the release date, wouldn’t they?

yes, they just love to have a game with severe issues. God, some people are just plain stupid…

There were letters from unknown sources that did say more or less, that Activision regularly pressures Blizzard to release things ahead of when they would normally like to. The effect Activision has on Blizzard is real, and has been noticeable since 2008.

The biggest problem is probably that they treated D2:Resurrected as a fun side project and now they focus on D4 instead of fixing this game. D2:Resurrected has been plagued with bugs and bad servers since closed beta, that would never have lasted this long if Blizzard put more money and manpower on to the game.

I think we all have to slowly face the truth.

Blizzard is dead, there is no more blizzard. Just a company with some kind of employees who have nothing to do with the Blizzard that we all appreciated in the past.

It used to be “Is done when is done”, today it is more like “its done when Activision tells us”

Shut up… more i cant say to you about your Bullshit.

yea correct, we have no proofed background informations but the minor statements from blizzard. but if u have a close look at all these present facts and the path blizzard took in the last years, then u will see that there is a serious probability that this whole D2R thing could be just a rip-off. though it hurts me alot to even consider that - i cant deny it anymore.

that is only partially correct. the game itself is not unfinished and all these bugs were never planned to be removed, because in blizzard words: they keep the authenticity of the original diablo 2 experience.

however, about the servers - that is indeed another story.
