This was to combat botters. It wasnt because the servers truggled to handle fast games. If you made a bunch of games in a very short amount of time you got temp banned.
They explained the problem with enough details in their bluepost - the issue is with a software part, not hardware.
480 quene today…ffs that blizzard they are here only to take our money!!! What the hell are they doing with all this monet they earned over the years?
“One of the stickied threads at the top of the forum says the queues are to make it easier for the D2R team to fix server issues as they crop up, and they will gradually increase the pop cap.”
Which is an obvious lie. This would mean the queues would get smaller and less often but its the opposite. I only get a queue more often and longer and longer queues too
In several days of weeks, there willbe no more queue (but the queue system will stay) because as a lot of players will not play anymore, it will be resoved by itself.
So true.People must stop giving their money to them.
but then when ladder comes they’ll all return. If they havent fixed the issue by then it will be an even bigger shitstorm…
Yeah you’re probably right.
Almost two weeks and zero noticeable change. Either they’re not really doing much or they’ve got one unpaid intern working on it.
they didnt have time during development? during alpha, and beta testings?
Ye the problem is that too many people make to many games so the servers get overloaded. Doesnt require rocket scientists to realise the problem is majorly a capacity problem. Why else would there be a need for a queue? Cus its a software problem? get outa here…!
Go read bluepost and try to comprehend what is written there.
I can give you a hint - if my whole solution relies on one poorly architected table to run and each function locks the table - no matter how powerful my server is, the program will be lagging. THis is what they tried to explain to you describing the problematic service (which is only one part of the issue).
Scalability is a big problem for old solutions.
This doesnt explain why they add a queue.
i Remember 1.09 Pindle was unlimited until restrictions. After that i had to recalibrate my bot and do andy, meph, pindle, and other bosses also had to add 3 minute gap to create new games.
If it doesn’t explain it to you, I can’t help you
I have been in queue for over 1h now. Was 460 when started now 68. I was wondering that am I basically waiting for people to quit the game so there will be room for me?
If this is the case. What will happen when people realize this and stop quitting the game and leaving it open 24/7 to avoid queues? More “random crashes” for players online…
… in queue number 57
So you cant explain it. you just choose to believe blizzard is doing everything in their power when its pretty obvious they are cheaping out on servers.
I just briefly did. Blizz also explained the problem and explaind what they gonna do to mitigate it, you just doesn’t seem to understand it. You are free to believe in whatever you’d like
Hiring the planet’s entire pool of crappy programmers.
Yup. And there’s no need for them to logout even if they stop playing. Say they want to play in 5 hours? Just stay logged in. Blizzard have not implemented auto-kicking of inactive players.
It’s an absolute farce to implement a server queue when there is no way to detect and remove inactive players from that server. That’s schoolboy programming error #101. Pretty pathetic.
