Patch 2.3 crashed the loot table?

yeah today the loot table crashed again, found a sur rune and a grisworld shield in one game.

this is actually true. I feel sorry for them… indeed, when you lost 20 years of your life doing nothing in D2 you might get soo frustrated that start to swear on others family when they say something is wrong with this game, like user Zaman did… actually hiting D2 for them is like hiting their life, because D2 was the only life for them…

Welcome back!!! We all missed you!! :heartbeat:
Came back to play? Hope the time spent banned was an important lesson for you!

today i found a shako, loot is still bugged…

this would be nice, some blue to write something about this and clarify some thinks regarding loot.
What for me looks very strange is that when some high items drop, it drops for lot of players in a short time base. e.g. some days ago found a small charm 5%FHR+5%allres, tried to create a game O SC 5FHR 5ALLRES. gues what? ā€œthe game name already existsā€ another player just found exactly the same SC as me. Checked the Trade forum here, the same, O 4FHR 5ALLress SC, even now if you check on Trade forum I think some posts with this are still there, I mean, whats the chance that in 10 minutes lot of players find SC 4-5FHR+5ALLRES?

i dont think the programmers will have any problems understanding basic c or c++ coding. they are experienced remakers. look at the amazing crash bandicoot remake.
i played d2 alot and i can really good remember that you get PERHAPS 1 good item from 100 mephisto runs. even hrs drop accurate according to my memory. the chance is not really low right now. in earlier times you didnt get a single hr in years of gaming. this is not an exaggeration. now they increased the chance by 16 and ppl complains they didnt found a high rune in the last month while their chars merc are cleaning the whole cs alone. i myself found literally every unique item, which i buyed previous this start later on. best drop was griffons.
loot is not bugged, but the understanding of rng is for the most. the problem is not the loot the problem is beeing a noob. nothing else.

after 6 hours farming Keys… 1 Terror but 1 Lo

There are likely thousands of additional unit tests that are missing

This statement here is how I know that you are not coming from the gaming industry

On a more serious note, the codebase is mostly unchanged as the game was written in C, asm and C++, with most changes happening in the graphics engine (which was completely replacing the sprite-based engine), the UI frontend, and networking backend. Gameplay, as developers themseves mentioned many, many times, remains mostly intact.

I’ve heard that promoters are allegedly able to get improved drops.

This is too silly. Ask yourself, according to whom, ā€œallegedlyā€?

TL;DR
You have two options: Either you (or anyone else) approaches this scientifically, mathematically, and you substantiate your claims with actual data that warrants being looked at (**), or whatever ā€œfeelingā€ or ā€œexperienceā€ you may be having is as useless on a debate of problems with loot drops as bringing the Bible to a mathematical convention.

The ā€œrethoricā€ has a very good reason to it. There is no widespread phenomena someone can hold on to. It’s all anecdotical evidence. What’s worse, this anecdotal evidence isn’t backed up by the necessary number of trials to actually lead anyone to investigate – and trust me, you have enough people on these and the US forums willing to take a hard look, if only the reports of problems with drops had more substance to them.

For instance, I can tell you that next quote is your rose-tinted glasses playing tricks on you. Diablo 2 was never (ever!) like this:

You are right on one instance though: It is very hard to argue against anyone complaining the drops are bugged. It’s not that we can test this offline, because you can always argue the online tables are altered.

But that has never been the official Blizzard stance on it. And you can only speculate. What’s worse, throughout the years (and we are talking 20 years here) results have been consistent with the data files we have access to offline. There is no reason to believe Blizzard manipulates these files on their closed bnet servers, neither anyone can come up with an argument as to why they would want to do that in the first place.

And do not forget, these conspiracy theories, these wild (that’s what they are) claims of problems with drops have existed for 20 years now. This is as old as the game itself. And they prey on the non-deterministic nature of an in-game drop. So without a real effort to substantiate a report on issues with loot, you will always be met with scorn or, on a good day, a wavey ā€œit’s the rngā€.

(**) Infinite loop warning: Before doing that, first brush up on 101 statistics and probability. Otherwise read TL;DR again.

Or any industry at all, pretty much!
Let’s bring in the 80:20 rule, shall we?

You can expect the entire planet to be ran on <20% coverage software, of which 10% are bad practice UTs anyways, and 5% are testing configuration instead of functionality. That is, on any business you are lucky if 5% of your code is actually properly and meaningfully tested. And that’s usually only the critical parts of it.

TDD is like climate change. Everyone talks about it, no one wants to actually do it.

Everyone talks about it, no one wants to actually do it.

This is universally true about almost anything in life, people are very good at talking but are very poor at doing  And regarding code… We all know that absolute majority is written with ā€œon the spotā€ testing, especially in lower-responsibility, higher turnover products like games

ā€œ6 HIDDEN IGNORED CRYING POSTSā€, Unveliavable… sorry ladies, I hear you crying but can not something to stop your big tears… now, go to farm!

meantime, it seems that all who tried D2R are back to D3, there are lot of players online. everybody understood quickly that D2R is too boring without end-game and competition/leaderboards. so, just forget loot table of D2R and have a try on D3, much much more fun than this boring walking in the park easy game. not even started D2R since few days already. some guys played it 20 years… just why?

Somebody forgot to take his medication this evening it seems.
The hubris on this one that he imagines everything gravitates around him. Jeez…the level of entitlement. Scary levels…

Don’t forget to lock your FPS at 60. Some dude said it fixes the drop rates. The source of his knowledge is the same - ā€œI’ve noticed thatā€¦ā€ and ā€œit feels likeā€¦ā€.
