Well honestly since I have done more or less everything else. I just wanted to find atheist every item in the game.
Also it has to be online.
Truth be told I have died alot probably would have reached 96 by now. I still ain’t found a Griffin, cranium basher, Coa and a few others. Many songs lesson, stormspire and executioners justice dropped.
I already found a WF and GF with nithlak but still far from all of the items.
Everyone is entitled to their own opinion, that said: Having low drop rates in “open” battle.net is fine for me - I still haven’t found many of the Uniques (such as Shako, Mara) or any rune higher than an Ohm.
That said, if the drop rates aren’t greatly improved for the ladders, then there is no way in hell I’ll be wasting my time playing the ladders - being a family guy, I don’t have enough free time to grind out the good stuff in 4 months 
I strongly recommend to do only chaos runs, you can get every item in the world and you have great chance to find som HR. But it is about clear spead. You should complete run withing 2-3 min. Kill all monsters, not just rush seals. I got HRs only from normal monsters.
This. I also quest bug diablo to enhance his drops. I am not entirely sure if what I am doing is the most efficient way though.
I’m not sure whether killing speed makes a difference or not. I play “slow” which might be the reason why I’ve never found anything higher than a “Lo”.
But I agree with the “normal monsters” comment, all three of the “good” runes I’ve found came from trash-mob kills.
Ist and Ohm from Act 2 (just outside of the town) and Lo from a trash-mob in the room with Andariel.
Killing speed make a difference, because you will kill more monsters, so you will have better chance to drop HR. I got the most of the stuff in chaos.
before stopped playing I did only Chaos, Cow and Baal runs. for me in Chaos the runes does not even dropped, very rarely once in 20 runs maybe a Amn/Ort… drop. same in Baal run. the only > KO runes I found in Cow level and 2 Ist 2 Mal from Countess when farming keys.
I found in choas 2 Vex, Ber and Jah and made maybe 1000 chaos runs, i don´t know 
But currently i have fully equiped barb and i don´t have any motivation for farming. Drop is really poor.

If the drops were “better”, any of the items you deserve would be trash. Like in D3.
Don’t look out for a special drop. In D2 you need a good knowledge about what people may need and what may be highly worthy. Rare items (yellow) can be epic worthy, dozens of HRs. Requiring damn big luck. If I need a Lo rune, I’m selling anything worth Pul+ until I got enough Ists to trade. Can be hard, but that’s end-game.
Btw. maybe I was lucky. I wasn’t too active, but dropped Ber, Jah, Ohm, Cham, Vex until now from Lower Kurast. Btw. opening any stash, not only the “big boxes”, only the Ohm rune came from such one for me. But keep in mind porting there in games 3+ players or the drops will be really shit.

no, there is no end-game in D2/D2R. you do not even need high items in this game since you can not compare the builds. at a moment you already one shot Hell so no matter if improve or not the build.
yes, in D3 the challenge is always there, you always have the chance to bechmark the build and to compare the builds when improve them , because there are Greater Rifts.

There is. The better your gear and TP in PVM, the easier runs at e.g. chaos sanctuary alone in 8player games and staying alive/not losing exp.
And btw. pvp requires knowledge about alot. And worthy equipment. every 5 more TP or absorb can make you win.
If people wouldn’t have that “endgame content” making them get effort, they wouldn’t have played that game for years.
After your thoughts, D3 hasn’t any endgame, too. If you don’t want pvp and just get Diablo killed once, you are done easily at low dificulty level.
there is no pvp in this game. it is just an “hostile” approach, and you need to find “manually” players to want that, agree rules… …
pvp is when the game match you against others in an arena and define the rules, e.g. Mortal Kombat, Street Fighter, PUBG… has real PvP.

To be honest HR runes could be lowered another 25% without any issues. It’s raining HR left and right in all p8 split mf games.
In over 12 years, this game didn’t need any pvp rules. D2 is the first and best balanced game of its genre with pvp elements. Set hostile… attack. The only problem is, that most people may leave the game if it’s not called “duels” or sounding like that.
Nothing easier than finding that games.
But this all requires a deeper knowledge, just like not trying to loot in single player games for a week or more and crying to not drop the exact thing you are searching for. Games with hidden depth are not made for D3-style players.
Depth-players can only hope that Blizzard will not start to crash this “resurrected” game because of people who don’t fit to the game. Or they will lose when the game fits to you and the majority has left again to original D2 or other games.

I’ve farmed Pindle for 7 hours with 500MF and I haven’t seen anything even close to an ormus. You don’t know pain.
