Im having an issue with the Blizzard Update Agent (Agent.exe).
When I play Diablo 3 my ms is somewhere between 180 and 1000 when it should be at a steady 46. I tried to follow a guide from a blue post telling me to delete the Battle net and Blizzard Entertainment folder from ProgramData then uninstall the blizz app and reinstall it. It did not work the issue was still there. Then I read somewhere in an overwatch post that its the Agent.exe thats the culprit. THEN I terminated the the Agent.exe and my ms was at a smooth 46 and I could finally play the game, or so I thought, The Agent.exe would just start again and destroy my ms all over again. This time I thought I would just terminate the exe and delete it, but that only worked for a few minutes untill it would download itself and start it up again. So in order to play Diablo I have to delete the EXE and make a replacement Agent.exe and make it Read-Only so it cant download a new one, but now the Blizz app is telling me it cant download it because of apparent reasons.
Is there anyway to stop the Agent.exe from destroying my ms and making Diablo plyable without sorting to these measures?
Hi:
Pls check:
- that updates are paused when you launch a game, and
- that the download speed of future patch is not 0. It should be a small number, but not 0 (0 means max speed). Mine is set to 100 kB/s.

At the same time, it’s a good idea to check the version of your BattleNet launcher… in the bottom left corner. It should be 1.15.2.11378
Another thing you can try (and I don’t know if it would work since I don’t have an issue with Agent running) is to close the BattleNet launcher when you launch a game… the Blizzard Update Agent will still be running, but not the launcher. Obviously, that only works if you’re not using the BattleNet streaming or group voice discussion. To close the launcher when you launch a game… see this screenshot: https://i.imgur.com/ZKXAenV.jpg
Hey Malthesen,
The Agent.exe is part of the Blizzard Desktop Application, and essentially helps the games run. It should not have an impact on your connection though, so it might be a good idea to go through the Connection Troubleshooting Support Article and see if those steps can help out.
Have a few seconds to spare? Let me know how I’m doing!

I appreciate the feedback, I have tried all of the above solutions and my network is working perfectly, this issue is unique to diablo 3 and the Agent.exe file. Im at a lose, why is it that when I kill the exe in task manager the latency is fine, but when its running its all over the place.
