On Battle.net, I click “Play”, the button goes grey and says “Playing now” for about 3-5 seconds, then goes back to “Play”. The game simply will not open. To my knowledge, nothing has changed. I don’t have any unusual windows up, no files have been deleted, nothing. I know that isn’t exactly helpful. As far as I’m aware, the conditions since last time I played the game have not changed in any way. I’ve run the repair tool and that did nothing. I’ve checked for updates, nothing. Uninstalled and reinstalled the game, nothing. I’m completely stuck.

It’s a form of crashing… Diablo III tries to launch (“Playing now”, can’t, and then crashes/closes (goes back to “Play”).
Could be many things… drivers, other software, … we had a similar issue 5 years ago or so… one of the modules provided with the drivers of Razer / Synapse mouses and/or keyboard was incompatible with D3.
When was the last time you were able to launch D3 ?

Incidently… this forum is for the Europe region. You might want to use the one for Americas since that is the region where you are playing.
Thank you for the reply. I don’t know why accessing the forums defaults to bringing me to the European side. Anyway, I tried opening the game just now and it works. For some reason. Last time I played the game was yesterday afternoon, as you stated, then I had to close the game to do other things, then about 5 hours later I tried opening the game and got the described issue. Posted here and contact support, gave it a few more tried to unchanged results, turned in for the night, tried next morning and now it works. Nothing changed to cause the issue and nothing changed to resolve it. I have no idea what happened, but it’s working NOW, sooo…case closed(?)

I’m having the same problem.
Although the last time I played was more than 5 years ago, reinstalled it yesterday.
The game doesn’t launch when i press Play on the Battle.net app. Everytime i press Play the botton turns darker and shows “Launching” first, then switches to “Playing now” for like 10 seconds and then goes back to “Play”
