One thing that definitely must be in Diablo 4 is the real money Auction House.
If you are looking at ‘mythic’ items they will probably sell for tons of money, which would boost the game’s player base.
It needs to be implemented properly though.

See this is what killed D3 for me and other friends in the beginning, really hated the AH. Would be extremely dissapointed if it came back.
nope its play to win not pay to win
I totally agree. The RMAH was a PERFECT end game. It gave purpose to the game and the constant item grinding makes people play the game hoping for a loot that they can sell for some money.
This also makes playing the game worth the time spent.
If some people don’t want the RMAH, create some servers with the RMAH available and some servers without RMAH.
Also, you can make the item sold on the AH ( Gold or real money) bound on account so that people stop playing the AH and re-selling items over and over.
Are you out of your mind?
The Auction House is what nearly killed the entire Diablo franchise to begin with, even after they believed it’s implementation to be right and proper.
Anything even remotely close to resembling the Auction House will destroy Diablo IV.
EDIT: As far as financing future development of Diablo IV is concerned, this can be done through micro-transactions for cosmetics only, such as wings, dyes, transmogs, hairstyles, tattoos, etc.
Pay-To-Win is an emphatic NO!
RMAH was pure agony. Total nightmare. Never again. How deep we have to bury it?
BUT! If there is trade, why not add auction as option. Auction would only be one style to trade. Even in D2 sometimes there were multiple offers and who had most interesting offer got to trade.
But what will the currency be?
What I’ve heard so far about the 3-tier trade (always / once / never) sounds good.
Also it appears as though there will be some sort of “clan stash” where you can drop items you have found for other clan members to pickup if they want them.
Blizzard will have to be very careful about how trade is implemented. If done incorrectly, it opens up a can of worms that allows for too many opportunities for one player to do all the work finding items for another player to use (Sort of like group-boosting in Diablo 3 works today. A new player joins a game with high-level characters, and within a few hours is himself paragon 800+ or GR70+. This is an unintended and unfortunate result of the “Strength in Numbers” group play buff).
Please, make trade work, but not at the expense of playing the game…
AH, whether gold or real money, was the most idiotic feature ever implemented to D3. It basically killed the very reason to play the game. It was removed for a reason.
D4 will have trading but thank goodness there are some limitations. Mythic items will always be untradeable. That’s a good thing, one should always get the best items only by actually playing the game. Next there are items which will be tradeable only once and finally there are completely freely tradeable items.
What we used to have? Runes, Gems, Items, material and gold. Despite I got once screwed it did work really well I think. It’s system that will build it self in time just like in D2. Was it 30 gems for Pul-rune? No one know’s who first set this value.
I had this in my vision: Guys want to trade, other clicks another and selects trade. While their trade window is open, third guy can also click first or second guy, select trade and join to same trade screen where everyone of them can show what they have and choose who they want to trade with.
Sort of an “auction” is then implemented.
Chat-style trade? Like in D3 PC how you can show items in chat, same but that window also has trade-interface. Would need some work for consoles though
Then there is way that PoE has. Without possibility to cheat, it could be in every town. Imagine a shop or message board to click for global trade system.
I like that 3-tier trade too and clan “bank” as they call it. Even if I never will be in clan it’s nice way to trade with my two friends even when they are not online.
I have never understood all the negativity towards Diablo Auction Houses. Noone is forced to use them.
It is the same as Kadala. You don’t have to go to her to gamble. I am sure there are plenty of players who don’t use Kadala because they want to pick up all their gear.
Its there for those who want to use it.
Using AH in D3 was mandatory. Otherwise one always hit a massive progression wall.
The problem with AH is that it becomes the endgame. You buy and sell, buy and sell… But you no longer play the actual game. That’s why it should never return in any form.
Human mind is weak. It’s like playing AoE2 after you hear “robinhood”. You constantly ask yourself just another look, if there is any solution for your ever increasing need. 90% time is spent there, rest of the time is just collecting gold or something fast to trade away. If you got something good for low price, you immediately want to trade it for greater value.
Always remind how it killed D3
This sounds good, actually. But in order to keep it clean and tidy, perhaps trade can be limited to clan members only so as to avoid the sharks?
NO REAL MONEY
NO PAY TO WIN
Auction house is good, only for game gold, but there must be built for economy balance to the game for it.
Private trading between two people is always the easiest way.
Yes ideas to multiple trades is nice.
But I´m personaly for getting lower amounts of gold drop, more interesting ways to drop items, because making just gold to get better items to go to harder dungeons to get better loot which you again sell, seems pretty pointless without real money.
EDIT: I´ve never play RPG where is gold balance all good all time.
It’s completely irrelevant what ingame currency the AH uses, the actual purchases are still made with real money.
I mean auction made only for game currency.
No real money in game.
I think to buy the game + expansions (everytime they make new one) is enough.
It doesn’t matter which ingame currency the AH uses, the actual payments are done with real money anyway. Gold only AH? Still uses real money. Specific items for an item in the AH? Still uses real money.
You buy game… play it… make game currency by drop…
where are that real money again ?
Thats the plan…
Can u possibily explain how it uses real money in this model ?
The purchases are arranged outside the AH. The seller sets the AH price so high only the buyer can afford it. The buyer then uses real money to first buy some currency, either from the seller or another source and then buy the item from AH.
There it is, real money used to buy something from a “no real money” AH. One must have serious lack of imagination to not see how real money gets involved in AH or even regular face to face trading.
Yes, I understand. Yes, that´s obvious…
LETS NOT MAKE ANY TRADING AT ALL CAUSE YOU CAN DO IT EVERYTIME LOL
yea everybody knows that.
