Diablo IV Price is way too high

PoE 2 will likely be PC-only at least the initial couple of years after release. D-IV will ship on all platforms from the start so there is that factor. PoE 1 is on all formats currently iirc?

Funny how blizzard ignores posts like this. i am wondering that it hasn´t been deleted yet.
70 €for a base game that has a ingame shop + battlepass.
Battlepass i usually only used in free to play games…
so they are triple dipping here. like they already know it is about to fail.
if blizzard would have produced outstanding games in the last years, it would be more okay. but fact is they only brought out trash, that was buggy as hell and it took months after any release to patch stuff… further they had their image destroyed by all that sexual harrasment stuff + laying off hundres of people, despite the fact that they made record earnings and paying their CEO 500 Million Bonus. Everything that blizzard did in the last years is criminal. if they had just a little bit of backbone left, they would have sold d4 for not more than 50 € , as a apology to their customers… and i am sure that the sale numbers would be at least double. so they are even loosing money cause of greed because for many people 70 € is just too much…

I was looking at price of the previous Diablo.

Diablo 2 was released at $50 (Checked on GameStop with wayback machine)
Diablo 3 was released at $60
Diablo 4 is available at $70
So… Diablo 5 will be at $80 ?

I enjoyed a lot Diablo 2, but I wasn’t a huge fan of Diablo 3.
Diablo 4 seems really similar to Diablo 3 (graphism, gameplay, environment), it just seems to be a big DLC.

I love the Diablo Franchise, but I don’t see much innovation in Diablo 4, and it’s honestly crazy expensive. I will prefer to spent my money in indie games / retro console, or maybe go with Path of Exile.

The price of the game is not an issue to me. I’ll need a new gaming rig to run DIV properly it seems. My processor is around the minimum, GPU is a 1070 card and I have a HDD not SSD.
I managed to get into the beta, but couldn’t see the UI. After getting in again later and changing some settings the UI was there but after playing a bit the game ended with an error code losing game connection.

I know there is a D4 forum.

PS
Beta seems to run better today after an update. (My Nvidia driver is also updated).

PPS
Gotten a few steps into the campaign/main story. Doesn’t look too bad and seems to run oaky.

Necro is the star of the show! Crazy damage skills, minions that can tank and take down bosses on their own, great toughness and survivability, great utility and cc, corpse explosion dmg is off the charts, bone spear splinters and hits the entire screen even without aiming… I maxed necro on the veteran difficulty and compared to barb everything seems to die twice and thrice as fast even though my barb is on normal difficulty. Killed the butcher 2 times as well, without him being too much of a threat.

Classes might be in for balancing and rebalancing :grinning_face_with_smiling_eyes:
My beta testing didn’t go so well. I can do fighting, questing, interacting, watch cutscenes but when traveling via the portal on the map I usually get disconnected and have to exit game. My PC is just above the minimum specs but without an SSD.

Can you explain why games have been stuck at 50/60 dollah point for last two decades while everything else has gotten more expensive?

Inflation is not prices going up. You’re correct about it not being fixed number. It can vary a lot but it’s always there.
Inflation is money losing its value over time.
Prices go up because money loses its value. 1 dollah you have in your pocket right now is worth less than it was 10 years ago.

Diablo 4, physical, standard edition, PS5: 74,99€
(Verkkokauppa, Finland)

Diablo 4, digital, standard edition, PS5: 79,95€
(Playstation Store)

I have no idea what you’re talking about.

I’m talking about D4 (digitally distributed) costing 2-3 times more than the average price of other physically distributed games, for over a decade.

At no point was I comparing the cost of D4 digital vs D4 physical. This should have been obvious, since D4 hasn’t been available for the last decade.

You could also ask why Vampire Survivors is only 4€ when average price is much higher yet beating most of them in entertainment value.

As D4 costs 15 to 20 times as much as that game, is it 20 times as entertaining?

I’m more under the impression they’re doing their utmost best to make games less and less entertaining and more and more about spending as much money on some needless cosmetics.

I get the argument for time spent on a computer game and working out the value that way.
This time I feel like it is too much of a price hike for an experience that seems very familiar.
Not forgetting the last experience of the mobile game it seems all I can do is vote by not supporting.

For those that pick this up, have a good one!

In Norway the game costs 75 dollar, and since I’m playing on xbox, ill need to pay for xbox ultimate to play in a group with friends, so 11 dollar per month, I dont like that.
I liked the beta, and I have played diablo 2 and 3, but this time I’m gonna wait I think

If they plan to fund the game with micro transactions the standard edition is way overpriced.
70 Euro that’s what I would expect to pay for an early access collectors edition.
But since activision care more about money than pride in their work this is the way we will go now.

Of course you do not have the same definition of “whole game”, because the brainwashing process of the game industry to sell 1/2 the game without unlockable content as full game and add a ingame shop which contains the remaining half through buying (but which should be in the game and unlockable through tasks), is already complete indoctrinated into you.

You’re already that much indoctrinated, you even unconsciously fight for Activision and their toxic politics.

Contatulations, you’ve become the perfect capitalism slave.
You are, what EA, Activision and other killers of the gaming industry targeted to create the past 15 years. Their plan has finally paid off.

Easy to exlpain.

The player base has grown exponentially. When 20 years ago a game hit 1 million sales, yet 2 million, it counted as “most successful”.
If today a game would sell only 1 million times, or the Publisher would know it will “only” sell for 1 million copies, they wouldn’t even bother creating it.

This game hase 2 battlepass and cosmetics . 20 years ago no BP.

Decided not to buy D4 for the only reason of being overpriced. No excuse for games being so expensive very few have physical copies anymore so they have virtually no manfacturing costs. Plus the fact the game has a battle pass and micro-transactions for cosmetics. Its just pure corporate greed. I do hope others take a stand and refuse to spend that kind of money for this game.

Hmmmm. Reasons for not buying d4…

My only reason is that i enjoy d3 enough not to see alternatives as attractive
Blizz would have to downgrade d3 enough to even make me consider d4. The question is, would they treat d3 with that sort of contempt to push people onto d4?
