I would gladly exchange 100,000 pieces of gold for D4 and even throw in a sack full of blood shards
The problem for me is, it is an online only game (unlike Diablo 3 console), so technically you will only be able to play the game while they decide it is still relevant regardless of how much you like it and want to play.
Hypothetical situation - say you bought the game for £80, then for whatever reason, they decided to shut the servers down 6 months later, where would you stand as a customer - not very well.
Unlikely to happen, but let’s entertain that question.
They could either make your game unusable, so the game will start but can’t connect to a server and won’t progress.
They could adjust the game or deliver it with a binary that simulates the server on another thread on your system.
But there’s always enough people willing to shill for a game and would even talk about scumbag features like it’s the most normal thing in the world, afterall in essence they’re not defending their beloved product against your criticism, they are defending it so they can tell to their self that it’s not a bad thing they did.
So unless it totally bombs that it would be entirely unprofitable i won’t see this happening.
Just take a look a Diablo Immoral.
80 euro is nothing. It worths every cent since they obviously they used this money to upgrade their network infrastructure!
Wait a minute…
There is a simple solution to this dilemma:
Do not buy it, wait for the cracked version. Play the campaign, delete it, continue playing D3
Unwise to try and incite people for piracy on the developer’s forum.
And also a bit unlikely if they use the same kind of system as Diablo 3 does, not much use.
There’s tons of information out there regarding this, but people just not buying into it would be more than enough to make them turn their heads and hopefully reconsider.
But like i said before, a lot of people are so entertainment starved they will do all kinds of mental gymnastics to justify the purchase.
Wow are you getting paid by Blizzard or something? Diablo IV is going to be another cash cow for Blizzard.
He’s actually an undercover boss. But don’t tell anyone.
just show me a MMO game that costs 70+ euro please.
Some people seem to be in a complete denial about inflation. 1€ currently has less value than it had 10 years ago and even less than 20 years ago. Next year it still decreases further. It’s not huge amount per year the value decreases but it piles up. Eventually prices need to be adjusted so that the product is not sold at a loss from the start.
Prices of games have been stagnant for long time now and have not followed the rate of inflation. A 50€ game 20 years ago is more expensive than a 70€ game today. That’s a fact, you can check this yourself with any inflation calculator available.
World of Warcraft is only 10.99 Euro… pr month… 131.88 a year
i’m not talking about subscription games so… next please
and btw, wow can be paid with the gold from the game itself so try next door pls.
I’m perfectly happy where I am at the moment. So no thx.
Some people seem to be in complete denial about Blizzard’s digitally distributed game costing 2-3 times as much as the average price of games sold at retail, i.e. physical copies.
This isn’t just about about the cost of the game, it’s about whether people consider that cost to be value for money or not. People could buy 2-3 other games for the same price as this. Is Blizzard’s game good enough to justify such a high price tag?
I had the same argument about D2R. For me, the price tag was trivial but the value proposition was absolutely zero because I’d played D2 back in 2000 and, whilst D2R had a shiny coat of paint on it, it was the same gameplay as from two decades ago. It could have cost £5 and I still wouldn’t have bought it.
To me, a game costing £90 would have to be spectacularly good and it absolutely, 100% needs to include everything at that price, i.e. no nickel and diming for micro-transactions on top of that.
I didn’t pre-order D4 when it was announced, and I’m still on the fence as to whether I’ll buy it at all.
I’m on the fence on this issue too, and await reports from friends and colleagues as to whether to make the acquisition.
We will have a board meeting to decide
Anyway, some of the feedbackers (It’s the beta 2 so early days) say that it is slower paced than D3 - more like D2.
Same here, though somehow the zealot fans seem to shill hard for their developer girlfriend.
I agree. The gaming industry is making insane profits and a company like Blizzard is definitely not struggling no matter how many hours/years you think it took for development. The game doesn’t even look progressively better than III. PoE comes out with updates every 3 months and can be played for free.
Comparing the gaming industry to the food industry is amusing as well. Gamers will take their hard earned money and spend it elsewhere.
This game MAKES you spend hours farming the RNG drops and it has nothing to do with actual content hours. This is where their money model falls apart. If you are a player like my wife, and play for the content and story - D4 is hardly worth it; gouging for nostalgia.
I don’t care if you buy it or not. But as I understand it D IV has a campaign and story and there are lots of quests and side quests and dungeons and whatever to explore.
They are too confident about that price, look at the animation in general, The UI, specially the game mechanics, I’ve learned my lesson on D3.
finally D3 gets some deserved love ;p
