Lag spikes in game

Hi again, Gilavar! o/

While the nodes starting from the 6th line may not be in direct control of your ISP, they should be able to contact those that are (in this case it seems to be netix and seabone).

While I can’t comment on this specific case, as I don’t know how your ISP operates, usually, local or even national ISPs have deals with other ISPs for when you need to go out of their network to connect to a service, so that their clients can use those networks. So again, and without knowing the specifics of your ISP, they should be able to escalate the issue to whomever it’s appropriate, or redirect you to them.

my game has been running perfectly for the last few months… not 1 issue in season 17, and the first few weeks of season 18…I am now having lag so bad i cant even take a step without jumping across the screen, lag out and die.
Now, i have read all these posts, most of what i see is saying that it is our ISP who tends to be the issue. I play from Australia so i am joining the Asian server. I see you want us to run WinMTR, but i don’t see anywhere here that tells me the servers IP that i join and therefore have no idea what to test in WinMTR.

Can I get some help with this please, it would be appreciated, I have reset my router, made Zero changes to my system from before season 17, and this issue only started happening a few days ago, but it is totally unplayable. I changed my routers DNS to Google, and it made it worse.

Cheers in advance for any help you can give.

Thanks.

looked into glasswire, so i hope i have traced the correct address…

Packet loss of 15% begins with the hop at 1.208.105.61

A whois lookup of that address says the range 1.208.0.0 - 1.223.255.255 belongs to LG DACOM Corporation of Korea.

As that’s outside of your ISP’s network (116.255.21.108 at hop 4 belongs to SuperLoop Australia) it would seem like you should contact your ISP, show them this trace, and ask them to contact the Korean company to investigate their network node.

Cheers for the help and advice.

So, spoke to my ISP and they just wont do a thing. All they tried was getting me to change my MTU to 1300 and setting my DNS to their IP, which was already setup.

Lag continues… I sometimes start my VPN and that fixes the issue, but most times not a change at all…

My ISP just wont go out of their way to help me at all. I work in I.T. so I do know my way around most things, i am no network engineer, but when they get me to do all this garbage i just get frustrated and ask why they want this from me, but get the run around. And now, we seem to be having the 40008 disconnect issue with the Asian servers and its just getting worse.

@AjAx
Sorry to hear about the service of your ISP.
From your log, the problem seemed to be located in Korea (or between AU and KR).
You may try the Taiwan server to see if any improvement.
To force connecting to the preferred server, you need to add an additional command line argument on the launcher:
TW: OnlineService.Matchmaking.ServerPool=TW3
KR: OnlineService.Matchmaking.ServerPool=Default
See screenshot: https://i.postimg.cc/8cdyBYhM/Additional-arguments.png
Remind to remove this argument if you switch to other region.

For 40008, this error appeared after the maintenance last week. It is not related to your OP but the problem is still outstanding and affect many (or all?) players on Asia realm.

Update: TW support updated that the Error 40008 has been fixed.

Hi all, just want to say lag spikes started yesterday for me and Sunday gaming was destroyed. It was unplayable for Hc. style.

Now, home from job and hungry for gameplay and now it’s even worse! :cry:

Game friends experience the same as I do atm.

Any update on the issue?
Is it the Ptr. that is causing this?

/Dolk

Impossible because PTR server is located in North America. It won’t affect EU realm which is located in France.

If you have lagging issue, try the steps in these articles:
Diablo III Performance Issues: https://eu.battle.net/support/en/article/000013930
Diablo III Latency Problems: https://eu.battle.net/support/en/article/112206

Far too many at the same time experience the same problem, testing different steps feels a bit like wasted time.

I appreciate your response. :heart_eyes: Just wanted to report that i am experiencing the same lag and many of my friends in the game are having the same problem right now.

Btw. made a few grift atm. all good so far, for now :stuck_out_tongue_winking_eye:

@Maskraider Thanks for the help and advice mate, i really appreciate it.
As for forcing the server to join, i tried doing that with the Australian server i was told about and my game just wouldn’t connect at all :frowning:

Ill try with the TW server and let you know, again, thanks for the help and support.

Cheers.

Australian server belongs to Americas region.
The parameters I gave you work for Asia region only. If you use them on Americas region, “TW3” will throw an error and “Default” will connection you to NA server rather than KR server.

@Maskraider
Yeah i understand that the TW wont connect if i am using the American servers etc, but, you did point something out to me that i didn’t know.
As i am in Australia, I always believed that Asia was my region, and that if there was an Australian server, then it would be in Asia?, but you say its part of the American region which explains when i tried to add the server like the TW server in settings, it would not connect. Now, my question is, if i change my region to the America’s, that will allow me to connect to the Australian D3 Servers and Do I lose my progression (characters, Stash from the current season etc).
Mate, you have been a great help to me, thanks again.

@AjAx
All three regions are separated and no data transfer between them.
i.e. if you switch to other region, you need to start over again. If you have friends on Asia region, you need to add them to your friend list on the new region. Also, they have to switch to the new region in order to play with you.

Of course, your Asia data is untouched. You can still play on Asia realm.

FYI, the three servers of Americas regions are:

AU1 = Australia
Default = North America
SA1 = South America

If you don’t give any argument, I’m not sure which server will be used, perhaps the “closest” server.

I’m having the same issues since this season.

I’m playing Barbarian for the first time on a Nintendo Switch. I haven’t had the issue while I was playing Necro this season. Also I always play local Coop. The interesting thing here is that my partner (playing Wizard / Witch Doctor), is not experience the “freeze” problem. If it would be my internet, I would expect both character to have this problem.

Hopefully a solution will be found soon for this issue. Because this makes playing Diablo so less fun :(.

Having problems aswell, and it’s only in diablo3… all other games work fine.

Having problems as well, but a little bit different ones: I have no packet loss or high latency (tried WinMTR, but the results are normal)… but if I try to complete a higher greater rift (95+) then my character looks like lagging… it’s stuck and skills have no effect. But only in higher grifts… elsewhere I have no issue.

Are you sure it’s not because of your cubed Stone Gauntlets? If you don’t maintain 100% up-time of Akrarat’s Champion, their stacking effect will slow your hero’s movement and attack speed.

No, my character doesn’t slow down, he can’t move at all… and if I try to cast a skill, it doesn’t happen.

Well, that effect is caused by the Gauntlets…
