In the discription for this gem it says it will increase damage. The problem is it doubles my toughness and increases recovery but for damage it does nothing. I have no sets and all items are ancient but for one. It does not look like anyone else has this issue. Before equiping the gem. Damage: 2,448,774. Toughness: 22,853,384. Recovery: 1,832,329. After equiping, my gem is only lvl 25. Damage: 2,448,774. Toughness: 45,706,768. Recovery: 3,664,659. I’m using a demon hunter only at 359. Am i missing something here. Please help.

Yes, you are. 
The damage increase doesn’t show up on the hero stats sheet.
Relying on the stats sheet is not a very good idea, except for the most basic builds… and even then.
A better tool is to use a third-party website called D3Planner; the site requires some learning however… but the effort is worth it as you gain experience with it. There are several videos available on the web to ease that learning.
