to whom it may concern i’ve re downloaded the game after a long while of being away from diablo 3 las time i logged on was 2012. Now i remember why it took me such a long while to re log in and play this game again. I remembered how plagued this game is with its many connection errors that it was off putting then and is still off putting now. Neither here or there today i am on to complain about yet another Bizzare( pun intended) moment when i logged onto the game and commenced character creation only to be dissapointed (Not Really) when i start the game i got this:

There was a problem creating a game. The game servers for your game mode may be unavailable at this time. Please make sure you have the latest Diablo 3 client by restarting or try again later. (Code317002). I tried every game mode be it campaign, adventure and season. all three give out the same error so i’m here thinking to myself it might be that the european servers are down. So i tried making a game on the North American servers and it works but with huge lag spikes. Is there a way i can log on to European servers pretty please with a cherry on top that would be really nice thanks.

And don’t tell me to run any diagnostic third party unnecessary softwares to see if there are any packet loss because a simple ping test using CMD prompt on windows can do that trick.

  • make sure you launch the game via the launcher
  • make sure your launcher and D3 are up-to-date (current D3 version is 2.6.8.66666)
  • make sure no invalid argument in the launcher settings

Additional info: Americas server is being DDoS attacked. You may experience 1016 disconnection and high latency if you play on Americas region.

Hey MaskRaider thanks for trying to help here is where i stand bud:

  1. I launch the game from the battlenet launcher
  2. Both my D3 and the Launcher are up to date
  3. I do however as you said use a command line argument and that would be >>>>> OnlineService.Matchmaking.Serverpool=EU1 to force the game to run on that specific EU server because that is where i experience the least amount of latency when i do a ping test
  4. If that command line is wrong can you please point me to the correct way of forcing the game to connect to that specific EU server.
  5. That’s the thing i do not want to play on the American servers.
  6. When i remove the command line argument the game connects me to really bad latency ridden servers that always disconnects me giving me the dreaded 1016 error (only on european servers) does not give me that error on the american servers so it’s not my connection i am pretty sure. I even had a conversation with my ISP about the game and he Assured me all ports are forwarded.

I think it is an invalid argument. In fact, I don’t know any argument for EU server. I only know arguments for US and Asia regions.

If you have latency issue, run some diagnostic test and post the output between two “~~~~” lines, like this:
