Is Blizzard gonna address the VRAM leak that’s been happening since launch?
It literally eats up all the VRAM on my 3080 and then crashes after about an hour or so of playing. This is ridiculous.
I shouldn’t have to switch my graphics down to low every so often to flush the memory…

I have an i5-10600KF CPU @ 4.10GHz, with 16gb ram and with a 2060 super.
I think this is the best optimized game Blizzard has ever made

There is definitely some leak going on, it doesn’t happen after an hour for me but after a couple hours with the game on it starts doing weird crap and it has lead to crashes. I usually restart the game after a while of playing to avoid it, but sometimes it hits you during a dungeon.
Hover over an item, tooltip doesn’t show up on one of them, weird freezes, town portal and game crashes, stuff like that.

This isn’t a case of optimisation. I’m getting over 200 fps on ultra settings at 1440p. The issue is the memory leak. I’m constantly monitoring my VRAM usage with software and I can literally see it climb up until it hits all 10gb of VRAM and crashes.
Can the indie developer fix this?

I’m so tired of playing on low texture setting with 3060ti to avoid stuttering. And when i exit game after a play session my PC freezes up for over a minute sometimes. How is this still an issue?

Game takes forever to quit.

That’s because it takes forever to clear the memory, sign of a bad optimization.
Have to play with medium textures on my 2070S and even then after hours the game just becomes a stutterfest and microfreezes every 2 steps my character takes… ridiculous.
I mean to be fair, D3 hat it’s issues too on launch but in another way, remember the stuttering on the bridge of doom in act 3?
Even upgrading from a mechanical drive to my first ssd back then didn’t fully fix it, altough improve it.
With the expansion they fixed it finally. So there is hope that we will one day be able to play without stuttering on our poor mans GPUs.
Cool story bro, there still is a VRAM leak/management issue?
I have 16 GB of VRAM and the game uses it all. It always shows more than 16000 MB of dedicated VRAM used with Ultra textures. With High textures, it’s between 15 and 16 GB. I saw someone with a 7900 XTX and the game also took all his VRAM (24GB). Blizz doesn’t care about this issue, even though there are many posts and comments about it.
Yes there is definetly something going on with the VRAM usage. And I am not speaking about 8k textures pack, but even on low the game eats up tons of vram. Not to mention the bug in NPC menu (blacksmith etc) where the GPU usage and fan spinning ramps up so much its crazy :).
I hope they are aware of it and trying to fix it.
Mem leak is crazy, I have a 6900xt and it gets ate up real quick…(yes I use monitoring software to see it happen in real time on another monitor). Specs btw 5900x, 6900xt 32gb OCd ram and I can watch it crash my whole system and need a total reboot. Only game btw that has done that and I play games… I have had mem leaks in other games, but I haven’t had any that have crashed my whole system, requiring a total reboot. GG Blizzard. Btw in regards to my other post, its late and I misclicked.

@Spaced The exact same thing happens to me, with my 5700 and a 3600 and 16 ram, in the end it consumes all the vram regardless of low medium high textures, it always consumes everything and my pc completely collapses, the only rather sad solution is to change of textures from time to time so that it is restored, I hope that blizzard is working with a fix, because the consumption of vram is not normal.
It is kinda bad performance now coz I got stutter for some days ago which it didnt happen before. It is the game issue so please fix it!
Had the same problem with 32gb ram 3060TI, here is a fix, I went to Advanced System Settings > Advanced tab > Performance Settings > Advanced tab > Change > select drive Diablo is installed on > click System Managed Size > Click OK all the way back out.
Never happened again.
I have the same issue. When i stream with GPU codec and have the game on High graphic settings, it takes about 1 hour and whole computer gets freezed and ocassionally the game get crashed. When i dont stream, it takes around 2-3 hours till the same issue.
I have ryzen 2700x with RTX2080 8GB VRAM and 64GB rams DDR4
I have crashing issue too.
My system is a Ryzen 5 2600x with RTX 2080 Super 8GB , and 16GB RAM.
I’ve found that I can have a crash free experience if I play D4 in window mode + not use Chrome at all after booting up or while playing the game. Not sure why starting/closing Chrome before playing the game causes it to crash. Just my experience so far. It might work for you. It sucks playing in window mode tbh.
If I play in fullscreen mode then the game will crash eventually. My longest run has been about 3/4 hours. Most of the time is crashes in 30 min or less. First the item labels will stop appearing, then I’ll be unable to skip dialog with NPCs, then I wont be able to alt tab or use ctrl/alt/del.
there is no vram leak as far as i can tell. most likely you need to upgrade your card to a 4090 ti like mine, since the one you have is pretty low-mid tier for the game to perform well.
its a security feature so that you cant alt tab out of it and start the hacking programs. good idea i think!
yes you use amd cards thats why you get so many issues. simply switch over to better cards like my 4090 ti and the game will be smooth! never had a leak. your card is pretty low-mid tier so thats the problem.
I had a different crash today…
I went to NPC KRES for the Tangled Memories quest, and one of the options for dialog with it was !!Missing!! - - 1:MenuLabel
I clicked it. Crash.
