Diabo 4 is bad! Really bad. Not fun, boring

-Two button game - click left click to win. There are few buttons to press, there are no skillshots - the gameplay is dull.
-Too simple. Zero challenge, just spam left click to win 95% of the time. You can easily fly in and kill any crowd of mobs already at the lowest levels exept for a few elite packs. The bosses are also not difficult, but fat - click them for 5 minutes to kill.
-No sense of progress. Due to scaling, there is no feeling that you are becoming stronger, and because of simplicity, there is no joy that you have leveled up. It’s already easy, why even bother to level up?
-Gear is not interesting to change - stats do not give much, there is no feeling that I have become stronger after i changed piece of gear. It’s not fun to gear up, it’s not fun to level up, it’s not fun to press your buttons. Why endure grind?

In such genres as Diablo, the character capabilities should be limited at the beginning of the game (little mana, inventory space, damage, hp, everything), but you must level up to remove these restrictions by getting new of talent points and gear. This makes this games interesting.
Plus, the mobs should destroy you at low levels, but the higher level you are, the stronger, on the contrary, you start to destroy them. This approach should be enjoyable because of the sense of progress.

In Diablo 4, your character is already, from the very beginning, not limited by anything and destroys huge crowds of monsters just woth right click (I play as druid, and right-click with a blow of a bear, ONENSHOTS any crowd mobs already at level 5). The character is so strong from the beggining, with the new level it does not become particularly stronger, and due to scaling (feels like) character becomes even weaker.

At the same time, to level up - you should go do quests in the style: the merchant owes me, bring me the gems. Or: I need to feed everyone and bring me 15 ghoul hearts.

At the beggining of the main quest, there was an interesting story about how I was poisoned and how Lilith subdued the villagers, but then the main quests became in the same style: go to that garrison and find out something, now go there find out something…

I see all this and think: WHY DO I PLAY THIS? What is the point? Why should I go get 15 Ghoul Hearts? For what? Why should i even bother leveling up? I am already strong. The plot does not motivate me to do this either. The two-button nobrain gameplay is also not interesting for me and im am not motivated level up to become stronger.

How gameplay in such a game should look like:

If you just fly into a pack of mobs, then you die.

You should have buttons like lifesteal, damage reduction, mass stun, something.

You have to fly into a pack of mobs, press these buttons, survive at the expense of this buttons and kill this pack.

So there is a feeling that you did something to be able to overcome them.

On the early levels, there may not be such buttons, but you should NOT be able to kill packs of mobs at the early levels. Gradually, with the discovery of new abilities, you must master more and more groups of monsters.

In Diablo 4, I have two buttons until level 10 - left click and right click to deal damage. But this is absolutely enough in D4! And I just destroy everything in the game with these two buttons!!! I can kill 40 monsters in a few seconds with only this two buttons. That is rediculus. What for do i level then? Even in D3 i had to get good gear and use all of my abilities to become so strong.

Yes, I see that defensive and utility abilities will appear in talents later. Well, I spent talant points on them at level 11. And now a simple game (where I destroy everything on my way without any challange) has become even easier.

Apparently again, as in a typical modern Blizzard game, fun gameplay will only begin at the maximum level.

And those stairs. The developers are probably directly proud that they came up with a system of shortcuts.

But it’s just ridiculous. What is the point of such a system if it is available to everyone from the very beginning of the game and is marked on the map? What does this system gives besides stealing a couple of seconds to climb down these stairs?

Normally, this system should work like this: these shortcuts should really exist from the beginning of the game and help cut the path, but they should not be available to the player to use at the beginning of the game.

Some classes should have abilities that can immediately give them access to these shortcuts.

The other clasees must do some kind of quest that will give them an item that will grant them the ability to use shortcuts. And it is desirable that this quest was not simple. You can make different quests for different types of shortcuts.

Then these shorts will make sense.

did you played D4 or D2R?
D2R is one butyon play. In D4 with rogue at level 21 already used both 2 mouse buttons and and 3 skill buttons constantly, and need to combo them, and not yet unlocked last skill.
are you sure you logged in into D4 and not D2R? please double check.

You seem to confuse Action-RPG (Hack’n’Slay) genre, which Diablo franchise is, for some kind of classic MMO game, where every single non-elite mob is as strong as player character at low levels (and past it as well).
In an ARPG Hack’n’Slay player character supposed to destroy large crowds of non-elite mobs. Because of that idea those mobs have very low chnce to drop anything at all. Good luck farming gear by those low drop rates killing mobs one by one, using CC’s and elaborate tactics.

Was expecting more from the combat even early on.
It does feel chunky and good in some sense…
But I never expected Diablo 4 to be a hard game…
It’s mindless fun …something to play while watching youtube on the second monitor…

But still I think the structure of this will be worse than Diablo 3 in many ways.
Open world is not doing it for me in a arpg so far…
Played 3 - 4 hours now and really not feeling the fun myself…

Hope it will be better after release or with a few content updates…

I can wait for it to be fleshed out and polished… alot of other games to spend money on before this one.

At the moment, the servers are too buggy, and the game quickly gets boring.
I don’t see the point of buying it. I will wait.

I agree with you 100%. I played a Necromancer up to lvl 15 on the harder difficulty and had absolutely no reason to get any abilities beyond a single target left click and an AoE right click. I dont even need skeletons. I can just run around in trash gear, while enemies are wailing on me, then do 1 right click and everything is dead. No need to evade any attacks, be smart about my cooldowns, manage my resources or make sure I have an array of abilities for different situations. Oh, theres a boss? Just hold left click for 2 minutes until its dead and occasionaly move out of a puddle. Theres a horde coming? Let them come and do 1 right click and everything on screen is dead. Why the heck should I spend skill points on curse abilities when one damage ability simply kills everything? Why should I use slow dots when there is no need to cc or run away from mobs? During the entire beta I havent once had the need to even use corpses, one of the main necromancer signature specs.

I am so ashamed of posts commenting on the “amazing combat system”. I assume theyre pre-teens that didnt get to know the golden days of blizzard arpgs and only have diablo immortal to compare to.

Remember when every single Blizzard game used to win the GOTY award? Activision killed Blizzards Labor of Love approach and Tencent killed its innovation. D4 is as bland as its color pallet. So sad to play a beta and realize the game is a dead horse before it even came out. I hope I’m wrong but it seems that Blizzards trash game streak cannot be stopped anymore.

I disagree with everything you said, i have really enjoyed D4 so far. I started on a harder difficultly and i have died a good few times.
Gems are available when farming and the game feels fun and there is loads to do.
The upgrade system is straightforward and everything makes sense as you progress.
You expect far too much!

Lol, a wall of text that is all bs, how fun.

I love these stupid posts, they entertain me. They keep comparing end game of D3 and D2 to the first 25 levels of this beta. It amazes me people are actually that ignorant.

Lol, really?

Go play D2 or D3 for the first 25 levels only. Those games don’t have much going for them before endgame either.

D3 has a very nice sense of growth, with your abilities getting ever so stronger, being more impressive and being able to take on more and more units at the same time. You wont ever clear the screen at lvl 4 in d3. You sure can do so in d4. Makes it boring af. The abilities you get in d4 dont change much at all over time, either. You have your 2 talent improvement options and that´s it. D3’s rune system made abilities much more complex than this crap.

The only bs I can see in these posts is you being rude to people with legitimate complaints about the game. Nobody is attacking you personally but yet you feel the need to do so against people with critique against a video game.

hey man, i noticed you said there’s no sense of progressing due to scaling.

did you know there’s a max level in this game, and that scaling only works until that level?

so…basically…crying because you done understand the basic mechanics of this game LOL

and the best part is youre crying about how easy the game is at the same time LOL

so if it didnt scale, itd be even easier

you see where im going with this? youre just a whiner.

Imagine crying about a game that you only can play until lvl 25 and you didnt see the endgame haha bro whats going on with you

I simply pointed out that D2 and D3 are just as bad if not worse the first 25 levels. If you consider that rude, so be it.

In D3 normal, you can easily clear the screen at level 4.

Soooo bad D2 is that there were PVP lvl 9, lvl 18 ^^ and some low level smiters could handle uber diablo …
congrats dude d3/d4 were made for you!

I prefer D1, D2 drop rates were… trash.

To me it is nothing else but a worthy successor in this epic game series many of us came to love so much.

Thanks Blizzard and all those who have contributed to this gorgeous game.

Can’t wait to see the full version.

I wonder if blizzard is proud of the product they are shipping or if they dont even care anymore as long as pockets gets filled.

I enjoyed my time in both Beta Tests. A game changer could be how Seasons will look like and how Dungeon mechanics are going to change (or not to change). Dungeons are currently not working for me regarding Map Layouts and Backtracking. And no … having respawning mobs won’t fix Backtracking mechanics. They stay bad …

But overall I’m excited what Blizzard has done so far and I hope the Release Version won’t have … let’s say “unwelcomed surprises”.
