Freeze, freeze, freeze crash

I get 30+ sec freezes with almost every action I am commiting - opening inventory, social tab, season journey, etc. I have changed absolutely nothing on my end but ever since one of their patches around 4-5 days ago or so, I can not play more than a few seconds. Unplayable and very sad.

Same same same!!! I started by asking for a refund so that i could just change to the new wow expansion. i play ALL of the games and the new Diablo 4 is the only one that this does this to. I freeze and freeze then i get disconnected from the server all together. i have updated my equipment my graphics cards my wifi speed my generation and have run all of the bug fixes that they have suggested and still i get the same thing. So now after several requests for refunds or just use the money for different upgrade they are saying that I have taken too long to try and fix it and have gone over the time allowed for a refund. Even though everything that they tell you to do REQUIRES additional game time!!! I spend way too much of my money on these games and they are making millions if not billions for it to be too much on their wallet to let me change to a new $80 game. I am not ever going to give them another dime and I am going to start posting to every singe forum!! From what i can tell its not just MY issue!!!

Yes, yes, yes. Same since release. I have notice a big reduction in this aspect since the last live update. Its the well experienced Blizzard Jaggs and staggers. We all have been persuaded to purchase and battle in a Beta development game. So obvious that the game was not ready for release.

I too freeze every now and then. Sucks.

one or more of these steps fixed the freezes and crashes for me.

buying 32gb memory from 16gb
reseting Swapfiles even with 32gb
CPU/GPU overclocking reset to default no overclocking
Cleaning motherboard etc etc from dust
setting MSI Mode for IRQĀ“s with MSI_Util_V3
checking SSDĀ“s by chkdsk /f /r
sfc /scannow and DISM check
checking gamefiles with the Blizzard app

one or more of these steps fixed it for me.
Mabye i was overclocking too muchā€¦

I think I finally found the fix, for me at least. I have been troubleshooting this issue since Season 2 released and have been plagued with crashes and UI freezing constantly , tried just about everything and have been through multiple nvidia driver updates to no avail. Today I started digging into event viewer and the game logs more.

For anyone still having this issue on Windows make sure GPU scheduling is enabled

1: Enable Windows GPU scheduling
System>Display>Graphics ā€œChange Default Graphics Settingsā€

Here is the error in the ā€œFenrisDebugā€ logfile inside the game directory
[streamline][error]dlss_gentry.cpp:522[updateEmbeddedJSON] Hardware-accelerated GPU scheduling in Windows OS needs to be enabled

2: Under Windows Security center disable ā€œControlled Folder Accessā€ or exclude
C:\Users%username%\Documents\Diablo IV

Regardless if it was enabled or not close the game and delete C:\Users%username%\LocalPrefs
Open the game and generate a new file

As a side note, if you have any security appliances such as DNSSEC or Firewall security whitelist the following FQDNS

prod[dot]actual[dot]battle[dot]net
level3[dot]blizzard[dot]com
level3[dot]ssl.blizzard[dot]com
us[dot]cdn[dot]blizzard[dot]com
blzddist1-a[dot]akamaihd[dot]net

I think the servers are actually hosted on google but make sure these above are not being blocked.

Iā€™ve also been going through the same as all of you and tbh itā€™s driving me so crazy I some days I donā€™t even want to open the game!!!
I contacted blizzard, sent them the disc files requested and they told me to disable and uninstall half the apps on my pc.
No letā€™s just be clear, I had absolutely no problems with my game before this latest patch.
But now they release a patch that is causing crashes and the response is for me to uninstall the software for my mouse and headset.
I donā€™t think this is an even remotely reasonable request. Iā€™ve had this debate with Corsair before after an update when they have tried to tell me that synapse, swarm or armoury crate are conflicting. I would accept this if it was always the case, but it worked fine a little over a week ago. So I ask blizzard, why is the fault with my software that seems to be fine with every other application???

This is still an ongoing issue. What is being done to fix it? Is it even known? Can we have a blue? yawn

Same for me. I had these issues in season 1, indicated by my earlier reply when this post was initially made, and had to call it quits. Came back in season 2, hoping the ungodly amount of ā€œseveral performance and stability fixesā€ lines in the patch notes actually did somethingā€“it didnā€™t. Quit again, came back two days ago for season 3 and the issues are still there. If Blizzard has acknowledged the issue I have completely missed it then Iā€™ll eat my words, but itā€™s kind of tilting getting nothing but radio silence regarding these issues from this company.

Sadness and sorrow, I just wanna kill some demons without having to worry if my gameā€™s going to freeze :frowning:

13700KF with 4070gtx and 16bg of ram. Windows 11 23H2 and the game take up to 97% of my ram sometimes. Game starts to get choppy then for me. The ram amount used for me is from about 70%-97% no clue why it changes but when it reaches the high number the game suffers. Iā€™m talking about the pc ram not the gpu ram (just to be clear).
