I’m running a RTX 2060
Full knowing this is beta, still this can’t be good for most computers!
I had to close down the game after seeing my gpu reached over 80c in temp.
If blizzard want to test a game and by doing so risking their customers GPU’s… well I’m def not buying this until i see ALOT of confirmations that this problem has been resolved across the board!
Edit : Lowering graphics settings seemingly did not impact temp enough to keep playing safely!

I’m actually surprised, mine has been staying around 60C. First thing I did before even launching the game was limit the fps to 60 in the Nvidia control panel
Edit: Should add I’m playing on an ultra wide with settings maxed, and have a 3080. Just for context.

3070 here. 40° no matter settings.
i had to set textures to medium bcause i have only 32gb ram tho
sry i have to say, but running an old 1080 ti with afterburner fan regulaton, and max. gpu temp is around 42 celsius playing D4 on mid textures(cause of RAM leak) , rest on high settings.
Sounds like a ventialtion problem, maybe to much dust in the heatsink

install MSI Afterbuner, there is a theme in that tool that allow you to set a max temperature for GPU, when is exceeded the tool auto undercock/undervolt you GPU to keep it at max temp you set. performance penalty is 5% max 10%

Not the case of dust or ventilation problem.
Will try to check more of the graphics settings to see if it fixes the problem.
And install MSI afterburner just in case.

I don’t know what it is with so many people believing their card will have problems with those temps. 80°C will never hurt your GPU, 90°C will not hurt your GPU and even 100°C will not hurt your GPU because, as long as you didn’t buy the most f’ed up chinese knockoff, it will clock down automatically before anything can happen no matter what load you put on it.
The cards that broke so far are mostly from gigabyte which means, just as it was in new world, the gpu manufacturer made a mistake. Big surprise, when a game in beta is putting a huge load, intentionally or not, on a faulty GPU it will die. If your GPU is not faulty, it won’t die.
80°C is a normal value for a GPU under usage.
Are you trolling? Otherwise dont worry, its far from dangerous for your GPU.
I would start worrying at 95-100°C, but if you dont have one of those bad manufactured Gigabyte GPUs that have malfunctions shown by this game (like it happened with new world), your GPU would throttle itself down to avoid damaging temperature.
A game can only damage a GPU if the manufacturer made something wrong. There is no way that the game “kills” your normal functioning GPU.
To have a game that is possible to damage your GPU it would need to overclock your GPU.

Seeing people with 40 degree gpu makes me laugh…and unless someone put’s a picture from in game with a benchmark on it ( not alt tabbed in windows) I am not believing anything…40 degrees is normal gpu utilization…Does your GPU sit in 24 degrees in normal idle operation mode to have 40 degrees in d4 ?
To the OP 80 degrees is fine for the gpu…mine is capping at 82 in every damn game and I have been using it for the last 10 years…Also there seems to be something that they did from the previous beta, because in last beta I had a stable 72 degrees and now it takes 10 more degrees just by being another iteration of the game ?

Yeah, running lots of other games, not climbing much over 70c gpu.
Tried turning most settings now to low, lowering fps, etc… (in diablo 4)
Still above 80c …not comfortable with that tbh.
yep, 25°C on desktop, and yes, semiconductors conduct better at higer temp, but u are not only using semiconductors, running at this temp like u said reduces the lifetime of the other components, so be lucky with ur 10 year old running grapic card at 80°C and laug about ur not exploding capacitors or melting spools.
peace out

Well running BF 2042, Riftbreaker, half life alyx, or any other game that i had recently… not much above 70c in any of those games.
And here it went above 80c as said… was up around 83c atleast at some point…
I might be over reacting but it does not feel comfortable.
3070 here and no issues at all, everything maxed out (capped at 120fps) and GPU is currently sat at 55degrees (CPU 45) … Odd D4 is going this to some setups. (AMD 5800X CPU)

Well it’s a beta. I am keeping that in mind…
But tbh… BF 2042 is kinda in beta still aswell
And i have 10 degrees lower gpu temp in bf2042 after 2 hours play than i have in minutes after booting diablo 4…
80c is not an issue, especially if your card is being air cooled, most modern cards will only start to run into critical failures at the 110 degree mark, however if its the noise of the fans ramping up that’s concerning you that’s a separate issue.
When did you buy the card and when is the last time it was re-pasted. a 2060 will be a good few years old now if you bought it while it was relevant.

Card is about 2 - 3 years old at this point.
But as stated before, not having such high temp from any other game so far…
Edit : And tried above solutions and suggestions from people, lowered all settings close to minimum, changed fps in nvide settings so on so forth.
only positive change from this was reduced stutter after setting the textures to med.
Kind of curious, did getting a clocking tool and setting a temp limit work for you? again really you don’t need to worry unless the card reaches over 88c but i understand it’s scary when your card gets that hot.

Well yes it works.
But still a major problem imo… if this is not fixed for launch.
Agreed, Glad it helped though, are you noticing any degradation in performance? for now I have all my issues fixed but im not entirely happy with the state of this beta. Also, like fastrakz said it might be high time to re apply your thermal paste. Manufacturers have a habit of applying it wrong anyway.

Well I haven’t played enough after just installing msi afterburner and setting it up.
Just noticed that the temp did not reach 80c anymore.
And to the point of thermal paste, yes it is 2 - 3 years old this computer.
But only game i played that does this to my temp is diablo 4.
No other game (that i played so far) has gone much above 70c at all.
