Third post to compleate this topic:
Possible solutions to the problem:
- The best option is to remove (and understand!) that one-shot mechanics have no place in Diablo.
- Keep the one-shot mechanics, but bring back mechanisms to avoid death: Flameshield - cooldown of 30 minutes, Elixir of Avoid Death - cooldown of 30 minutes or an hour, and make resource collection more difficult.
- Introduce true damage or chaos damage into the game and implement mechanics to defend against them. For example, maximum 35% resistance against chaos damage; only armor and damage reduction can protect against true damage, and all other damage reductions are not considered.
Additional ideas that could be introduced, but do not solve the one-shot problem:
- Resurrection scroll: costs 3-5 times more resources than an uber unique item and has a similar drop rate.
- If the one-shot mechanics are not removed and Blizzard is adamant about not implementing anything from the first two points, then at least allow a hardcore character to be moved to softcore. Personally, I don’t need this and I won’t play this way, as I’ve been playing hardcore since Diablo II. But at least there would be some semblance of fairness.
