Is this just lost ark 2?

Still reserving judgment overall and hope there is MUCH more to come… This has been my all time favorite game series…but i dont feel at all like i am playing a Diablo game. So far not super impressed…Let me explain.

The open world, doesnt just feel, it even looks like lost arc… hell the icons for quests and dungeons is even similar, the mapping is like the exact same… and now the open world is always the same? No randomness? The whole beauty of Diablo was the moment you left the city gates in each act it was random maps and dungeons…

Huge cities you have to spend way to much time in, a non private open world with respawning minions??? Since when is that a diablo thing? You want to respawn? Then open a NG…all the while, talking to 30 NPCs along the way all with unskippable, long, and not very diablo like cinimatics…so boring and nothing like previous titles… wheres the hordes demons and minions of hell ripping through these places until the secret SMALL society of the horadrim comes to save the day?

Waypoints in cities, not out in the wilderness to points helping you cut the map to get back to action, but because now apparently diablo has multiple cities to goto in one act, again… not Diablo…also makes teleporting a little confusing…you tp out and it will take you to the wrong city to do turn ins if your not paying attention and port over to do turn ins it closes your tp cause you opened a new on to goto a different city in the act… this just so isnt diablo, the simplicity of each city in each act was what made it good, if you ask any D player their favorite cities are the ones that you can hit your blacksmith, kadala, and stash in seconds cause they are essentially right there…i dont know anyone that wanted multiple large boring cities per act you dont care 2 squats about…

Multiple mmo style quests at the same time… collect 9 of these… talk to this person, escort this guy here…instead of a linear questline and story following along the horadrim, using events as side quests in random dungeons placed along the way… again. not diablo…

Multitudes of sort of boring monster groups, without any emphasis on champ and elite packs…half the time i dont even realize im fighting a champ pack until it drops a wall or some poison…bosses and mini bosses dont even feel that special of encounters…very underwhelming…doesnt feel at all like d2 or 3… again, the only thing i can say it reminds me of is lost arc…zero excitment here.

No crafting? Yet i hope? One of the best aspects of this series was keeping up with your blacksmithing and gemming so you could craft gear on the go and didnt have to rely on drops solely… yet… only “Upgrading” gear just like… lost arc…if they could add that mechanic why is there not some basic crafting?

Have yet to recognize any character or place in the game… all legendaries drop identified? Did they just drop that altogether, is this permanent? I know its a small thing but there is a piece missing not having to ID your legos… i understand Kain dies in D3 but… they had better be doing something to have some sort of ties to the original series…because as is right now it feels like an open world lost arc style map with a hint of diablo.

I do like the fact that the skill tree looks very customizable and that gear drops are trending more towards a D2 style with + to skills on them…

Im really trying to be open minded… its beta… it is fun to a degree… but i just cant shake this dissapointment that i dont feel at all like im playing a diablo title, and dont have alot of excitment driving me to want to explore every build i can do on the three characters theyve given us.

no, List Ark is an MMO with a very different combat style. Both are very good imo. Played Lost Ark till about ilvl 1500 ish iirc and end game is aimed at big nasty hard, raids lol. Looking forward to launch day of this.

It feels closer to D1 than any other Diablo. The open world and waypoint changes simply bring it up to date vs other games.

I agree that this is an MMO instead of a simpler four player co-op… but I don’t care.

Are you high? D4 is using all the same systems as D3, except with less content.

It’s nothing like D1 and very much like D3.

I honestly dont feel like its any Diablo at all… No Diablo has this weird open world with multiple cities, respawning mobs, multiple quests, millions of NPC’s to be forced to listen to, I dunno… will just keep plugging away but so far not my cup of tea, if i wanted an MMO id go play wow.

This game was the OG AARPG and its sad to see them change it.

you seem to be high…

less content than D3 is not even possible.
questing through the story or doing one billion rifts is more content?
thats a real good joke…

Yup seems they are trying really hard to compete with Lost Ark. It’s quite sad really. So much of what made Diablo great, no longer exists here, or has been changed into something else. It feels like the shared world is just there to distract from the lack of unique content. Clearing the optional content felt so bad because of how often the assets were reused. It is painfully obvious that the game has been designed from the ground up to be just like Lost Ark.

Even if its not exactly Lost Ark, its the entirety of trying to make a great AARPG and turning into an MMO. How can they call it Diablo if the moment you walk out the gates its not a random generated map, with hordes of mobs that dont respawn once youve cleared them? Just isnt Diablo. Not a bad game, but… not Diablo.

no, there is no ark in D4. have you saw an ark in D4?
stop trolling.

Who is high here? Less content than D3? This game has far more content on level 25 beta than the whole diablo 3 with expansion and DLC.

Yeah! In D2 you could just RUN! Its something you could not do in D1 so Diablo 2 it is just not a Diablo game… How they dare to try new things to a new game?

Lost ark female characters looks like Victoria secret supermodels…

Diablo 4 female characters looks like transformer.

Don’t see lost ark here. I quite lost ark for being forced to sing / dance with animals or ship around the oceans on timers all day and the overall ‘lyly’ theme.

Diablo 4 is dark and brutal and you can go kill stuff all the time. Not really the same to me. At all.

Diablo 1 didn’t even have an open world, so guess the original game isn’t Diablo.

Believe it or not… it was open world/dungeon for it’s time and the start of many good games.

None of them did lol.

And D2 was the only one to have a talent tree till 4. So D2 is very much not Diablo.

I played Lost Ark, I think D4 is modelled on Lost Ark. That doesn’t mean it’s the same game, people seem to see people drawing the comparisons where Blizzard has obviously taken a lot of influence and get upset as if we’re saying they are exactly the same.

It’s closer to Lost Ark in design than it is any Diablo game, and that is why so many people are making this comparison. We’re seeing the early experience of D4 and to me it’s much like the early experience of playing Lost Ark, so many similarities. Lost Ark is a good game too, but it’s different.

D4 seems like a good game, massive potential… A lot of issues tho, all the copy pasted “cellar” mini dungeons and the copy pasted deep dive dungeons, full of all the backtracking to pickup some dumb key you missed, to eventually fight the same bosses over and over. If that is the endgame, it won’t have much shelf-life.

Also, all the bosses are massively skewed towards ranged, if you play Barb you have to be able to facetank everything to make a meaningful contribution, the world boss is just pure agony as melee.

I played Lost Ark and i don’t see much similarities between them. At least, i don’t have to play multiple characters on a daily basis to progress.
