Is Tier 5 needed?

Hi all.

I have just read Forbes article where author argues, that game becomes too easy at around 85+ . He states that only challenge is present in high tier NM dungeons while other activities are rendered too easy, additionally only viable rewards can be obtained doing high tier NM dungeons. This reminds D3 situation where only option we had was to run rifts and occasionally do few world activities without any resistance or challenge.

He says that world bosses drop within seconds, hell tides not challenging, tree of whispers the same, standard dungeons same and all the regions are too easy too.

I am lvl 71 and dungeons currently can be tough and sometimes I just need to tread carefully. Few times was one shotted by executor monsters, had bad cc where I could not recover or was simply overwhelmed because of my mistake. To win I need to spend some time in dungeon, pick up good targets, watch out on what enemies do and be bit smarter about how I play and I actually like it. I can see how it might change once I start getting better gear

I was hoping that the game will become progressively more difficult to the point where it just feels brutal (almost Dark Souls brutal but in D4) . At lvl 100 supposedly you are competent player, spent enough time with the game so you know it in and out, know the mechanics thus we can handle appropriate challenges.

If the game is indeed too easy around 85+ I am for world tier V

tl;dr
Keep game challenging by making all activities and regions relevant and difficult.

T5 is needed, WT4 has a weird progression where a lot of builds can already enter it and farm decently well below level 60, and where you’re close to fully optimised by level 80 with only minor improvements between lvl80-100 other than Paragon, which is where almost all your power is gained.

If you’re levelling glyphs you actually by lvl80 can easily be just completely destroying WT4 with absolute ease, while the gear drops cap at level 60 quality. There feels like there is 1/5 of the game missing progression wise.

This is made worse by NM dungeons having no higher purpose, and high NM dungeons having no purpose at all, and with Lilith being 100x harder than anything else in the game you faced before her.

Just another thought: perhaps T5 should not offer any new gear or rewards aside from T5 unique cosmetics. It would be there just for the tough challenge, so those who want to farm could stay on T4 until they want to check their powers.

btw is there max lvl for the glyphs?

I don’t have strong feelings about what T5 should offer, but I feel like offering a further power progression path would add a lot more playability to the game, at the risk of feeling like it devalues the progression from 60-80.

Glyphs currently cap out at level 21, their placements and the boards you choose to pair them with also can cause large differences in power, for example a glyph might increase in power for every point of dexterity you have, so a glyph slot that has more dexterity around it would increase the power of the glyph.

There is a massive amount of power in the Paragon board, which also presents with itself the possibility to make a lot of poor choices that would not be evident without fully understanding and exploring the system… Meanwhile gear progression barely moves above level 80, nor does gameplay progression (no point in doing above lvl50 Nm dungeon really, and there is no boss content other than nearly impossible Uber Lilith for lvl100s).

Yea having a 5th tier would help in the balance aspect, as one can easily see after spending 50+ hours in the game, that there is a big xp and progression problem and part of it comes from too few world tires.

So instead of adding a t5 for lv100+, spread it out. t1 for 0-20, t2 for 21-40, t3 for 41-60, t4 for 61-80, t5 for 81-100.

I stopped pkaying Diablo Immortal when they annpunced tier 6&7. if they eill do the same in D4, showing us the carrot with new tiers, I will quit. maybe, jyst maybe, a tier 5 can be sdded to D4, but that shall be the last one. I eill not farm carrots in D4!

Yeah let’s make another Diablo 3 with 16 difficulty levels.

That is why I think T5 should not give any progression rewards, just transmogs so this difficulty could not be “outplayed”. It would be there for those who want challenge and would not be meant for facerolling. Because if T4 is laughably easy at higher levels. What is the point?

edit: I too think that too many difficulty levels is not good idea.

Maybe they want to bring this missing piece of game in season 1?

Instead, imo they must delete T2 which is just nothing, no rewards with tiny exp difference from T1, and 90% of the players just finished the campaign in T1 and just switched T2 only for capstone dungeon.

Let 3 difficulty levels, but make, the current T4, to scale with attack power/stats instead of character lvls. Atm I am 87 and I am destroying 95 mobs, face tanked a 93lvl The Butcher, while I killed him within 20secs, and I recorded it…. So for me, and way too many ppl, there is nothing else to do in the game already beside farming the 6 super rare items, and adding another difficulty level which scales with just my character lvl, is pointless, totally pointless!!! Eventually this fifth difficulty level will be easy and ppl will ask for sixth and so on…… by the time we will realise, we will have 16 difficulty levels just like D3, while 75% of them are totally useless and ppl just skip them the moment they find a set.

To conclude this, the problem is the scale design, not the number of the difficulty levels.
They have the diamond of the franchise D2 and they take ideas from D3.

Actually not a bad idea. Max level on eternal only to infinite so you can max out all paragon boards and add tier5. This way, the eternal people can basically play endless.

thry need to add an end-game, not new tiers.
