Hi mates . Yesterday while i was playing my screen went black and once the fans started to spin faster . The second time only my screen went black ( no signal) . Does anyone have that problem or is it just me ? My temps are fine . I’m running an RTX 4090 . All cables are seated properly and when i play other games this issue does not appear . Going to try to roll back on the previous drivers . I’m thinking the new ones are the problem . Does anyone experience this strange bug also ?
Your GPU is crashing.
Yeah but i cannot find out why . I went on event log and cannot find anything . Started CP 2077 for 30 mins to check temps and etc. everything is running and the GPU is going max 50 degrees . Rolled back the drivers and the game is way more stable ( but GPU crashed after 2 hours again ) . Forgot to mention that i updated windows also . So right now my only solution is to wait for more stable drivers or there are some fixes around this ?
This could be hardware or software related, hard to say at this point.
First thing to try, decrease TDP to, for example, 75%, or even 50% if you can, in MSI Afterburner or similar tool, set everything in game graphics to lowest, set 30 fps cap and go from there. Reach stability and slowly increase demand until you find breaking point. Monitor power use and temperatures of GPU and CPU.
On software side, try to create new Windows profile and play game there, disable everything from autostart too.
Seems there will be a lot of troubleshooting . I enabled NVIDIA overlay to monitor temps and other stats . The system is quite new ( 3 months old so i hope it’s not hardware related ) . As for background apps only MSI companion and G Hub are working . Will try your recommendations . Hope it’s software related and they manage to fix it .
Hi! I’m at the same situation, and I don’t think it is related to the computer hardware itself. I have high end PC, running other games flawlessly. But then, in D4, monitor shuts down. It can be login or it can happen later on, while playing normally. My temps are pretty low (55C GPU, 65C CPU), and I can play other games that are more GPU intensive than this, so I think it is the same case as yours. It is happening since the games ready drivers from NVidia came out, so that might be the culprit.
Same problem here. I have been unable to play the game since day two of the early access. I have played the two betas just ok, and I played the first-day streaming, and it was also fine. There was an update, and BOOM, I keep having a black screen after 30min or so of playing and have to force restart my PC.
I have a GTX3070, 32 GB RAM and I7 10700, and I have played other more demanding games with no problem.
I have bought the top version for being unable to play at all. =/
Just wanted to say what helped me, disable hardware acceleration in any app, especially your browser if you are watching videos while playing D4.
I just did a test here, and it works…or at least I have played for one hour without any crashes. Here’s what I did.
I uninstall the Hi-end texture.
To do that, you go to the game options at battle.net launcher and select “Modify install”, then go to “Modify Instal” at the Game Content, uncheck the “High-Resolution Assets”, and apply.
I also set the max fps to 60; I was playing with 150 fps before.
This works for me on my first try. I’ll go back to the game and try it again to see if I can play more than 30min without crashing.
Let’s hope this works for everyone and that this issue is fixed so we can use the High-resolution textures.
Cheers.
Will wait for an update !
Well it’s definately not the texture pack, because wether you uninstall it or just don’t use it ingame does not make any difference to the game
Anyways it does not really matter since you got only 8GB of VRAM like me and won’t be able to use ultra textures without stuttering.
Limiting your FPS does reduce heat and load on the GPU thus making it more stable if it wasn’t at high load.
Same problem for me ive tried everything and nothing has helped so far… I even tried to install the game again without hi-end texture, didnt work. So Im hoping someone finds solution for this
Well i think i found out the problem . I disabled hardware acceleration as you mention but the problem persisted . Updated BIOS but still it triggered randomly . After many trial and errors i found ot that discord caused the problem for me ( even with hardware acceleration disabled ) . Right now im with the new drivers and everything , playing the game with no crashes but discord is not running
That’s strange. I have discord running all the time with no problems
I was surprised also , but i notice the difference. Basically i do not run anything besides d4 and im fine .
Well at least im back to the point wher i can use chrome on my 2nd display and even watch streams again in full res without the game stuttering like crazy or crashing
It happened again , but after many hours of gameplay. The more i look to logs and etc , the more i think it is an windows problem. I opened Aida64 and checked event logs and when my screen went black the same error appeared : 0x8898008d which is tied to dwm.exe and dwmcore.dll or Windows Desktop Manager ( from what i read i handles app resolution like fullscreen or windowed mode ) . Seems that the new 22H2 has some problems , given the fact that everything started when windows updated itself (sadly i cannot roll back ) . People have written on windows forums about this . Well going to try to fix this problem now . Hope it’s the last …
I’m still on 21H2 so that could be a reason.
