Performance issues

Hey Blizz,

Since the updates this morning im suffering massive frame laggs and my pc is going crazy as Ive never experianced before…

I think you guys introduced some bugs/ performance issues with the latest patch, it’s borderline unplayable…

memory usage is at 5.4Gig and processor spikes from 20ish% up to 70-80 while standing still in town or anywhere else in the world being inactive / not moving or fighting mobs…

Does your pc also just completely crash, where ctrl + alt + del does not even work too?

no it doesnt, but my task manager shows Diablo red lining almost all columns, so could very well be possible that your machine cant handle the switch…

I saw someone on a Twitch stream comment that he re-installed the game and it fixed it, but have not tried myself yet…

@Rosáline, I just saw your topic and your pc is much stronger than mine!

I only have an older i5 with GTX1060 6G,16GB ram and running Windows10

re insatl will do nothing did it just for lolz the game have memory problems on the server side and use to much Resources open you task manager and open 2 or 3 times bags and stuff and you will see your ram go brrrrr until they fix it we cand to nothing is all on their side

I got similar issues, starting yesterday evening and seems worse today. Game freezes / lag, before recovering. Playing a rogue if that could mean anything…

Yep, same here. I played this morning and afternoon okay. Logging on in the evening and I am seeing a massive slowdown. I have never had this problem before. The massive slowdown is also happening for me in world of warcraft. I then loaded up CYBERPUNK 2077 and everything was fine. It seems to be a problem with blizzard atm. My other games run smoothly.

UPDATE> Rebooting my pc solved the issue, no idea why.

I’m playing rogue and getting weird latency issues, not all time and it seems to show more in the blood harvest areas.

Thanks all for your inputs, at least now I know its not only me!

However I realy do mis a Blizz dev telling us its on their radar and they are working on a fix…

My computer acted so weird Im afraid of breaking the thing, and playing D4 isnt worth breaking my shit… so I aint gonna play untill they do a fix, or at least react in some kind of way…

Kinda dissapointed…

It’s truly unplayable, it gets worse every night. Freeze, crash, blocks! But do they plan to do something or do they hope to lose a few more players?

Another disconnection from the client, when I was almost finishing the dungeon…
Every time I start playing, after maybe half an hour I have a disconnection…
Incredible that this is happening EVERY DAY on a game that should be “best in class”…

I have 3060Ti and my frame rate is capped at 80 fps. I get up early this morning and want to roll some d4 before go to work. Blizz made a small patch to game and after it my gpu went off. I did several restarts and unplug - plug operation with the hope that my GPU is not burned.

I plug off power cables and waited for 5-10 mins. Luckily my system came online but now I am afraid to try login to Diablo 4 again.

Only started happening when I updated to the new season. No issues before then and haven’t changed any settings. I’ve 32g of Ram and ultrafast broadband and game is now unplayable due to constantly jumping back every few seconds and hits not registering for seconds after. Boss fights are more or less impossible as you’ve no idea where the collision detection is! Pretty poor for a game costing so much. Even more disappointing for a company with as much experience as Blizzard.

For those that experience freezing issues and have NVIDIA GPUs (probably a similar solution could exist for AMD) try rolling back your drivers to August 22nd from the NVIDIA website. I have tried everything suggested in the forums, but only this fixed my problem.

BLIZ. your server delays is huge! FIX IT! territories have been loaded for centuries by traveling between.

Then thats an issue with your PC as if there was a memory leak issue with the actual game, it would affect EVERY player which it doesn’t!

If you are seeing your RAM spike then sounds like you don’t have enough as if using 5.4GB then that seems awfully low for the game. With my 9900K & 3080ti system, the D4 processes use a constant steady 8GB of RAM & 10.2GB of VRAM (both monitored in game using Task Manager & HWMonitor on 2nd screen & also RTS/AfterBurner Overlay on main panel). No spikes, no change until exit out of the game. CPU usage will spike lightly when in town but this has always happened & is not a problem if your system is actually stable as the spike is less than 10%.
My system is not the most powerful out there but does the job with 170-210FPS @ 5120x1440p native (no DLSS/FSR) resolution with all the eye candy enabled.

I9 9900K @ 4.9GHz all core/5.1GHz upto 3 cores
Noctua NH-D15 cooler
RTX3080ti 12GB (bottlenecked at PCIe Gen 3 x16 due to motherboard limits) - latest Nvidia drivers always installed
64GB DDR3200 (4x16GB modules)
512GB Samsung 970 Pro NVME boot drive
1TB Samsung 980 NVME game drive
49” Samsung Odyssey Neo G9 5120x1440p @ 240hz (main panel) + 28” Samsung 28” 2160p 60Hz panel (system monitoring + Discord etc)
1000mb/s synchronous full fibre connection with average pings to D4 server between 29ms-47ms

I don’t even get any issues when the Plex Server that the system is also running in background is transcoding in realtime (& when transcoding 4K media on the fly it will hit resources hard) yet game still runs smoothly & flawlessly.

The only system that I have seen which did have some issues was my next door neighbours 10th Gen i5 + RTX3060, but a couple of UEFI/BIOS changes resolved those issues & it is now flawlessly playing the game as well. He was blaming the game as he wasn’t having issues with other games (yet performance on those also improved after the changes). Just because a PC turns on & works most of the time doesn’t mean it is configured properly, but then again, it is easier to blame a game for the issues instead of something that cost a significant amount more.

hey i seen your post about a few bios changes to make this game run smooth do you happen to know what i should be looking for as ive tried everything else to get this game to run, overcloking, no overclock, in game setting even under volting but still nothing

There is no such thing, unless your RAM does not run at it’s supposed speed so make sure the XMP profile is loaded
