Performance Issues

I have the following performance issue currently

  • Rubber banding constantly
  • Crashes, screen freezes, other times it crashes to desktop
  • Some loading screens takes over 1min and then the game enters as if there was nothing wrong.

My PC

13th Gen Intel core i9-13900k

64.0 GB memory

Nvidia GeForce RTX 4090

Water-cooled

100 Mb broadband with low latency

I have played other games with far more advanced graphics, with max settings, with no performance loss at all.

The faults are posted on the forum, but just like complaints about the lack of reward and other issue effecting the game, it falls on deaf ears, with no speedy fix or explanation from blizzard, not that I would expect one, this company is the worst when it comes to listening and answering the player base.

I am a dedicated Diablo game player and if it was not for this, I would have dropped this game along time ago, but my patients is being pushed to the limit with all these performance issues, along with the lack of rewarding game play.

If the game was a good as the developers describe on the campfire chat, then we would have a AAA title, but it’s not and our hopes for the game where classes are balanced, there’s reward for effort and the game is not plagued with performance issues, seems a long way off being fixed.

But just like when the community complained about the aspect issues from day 1, blizzard fixed 12 months later in season 4 and the Armoury system that was asked for from day 1, that Diablo 3 already had, finally gets implemented 18 months in to the game, so the statement, (seems a long way of being fixed), seems fair.

I think everybody at this point found this has nothing to do with the HW, the fault is somewhere within the current game’s coding or optimization. It also began with VoH, I had no prior issues with the base game.

If that were the case, I think somebody would be fired a long time ago, no need to publicize it, they’d simply get fired and held by gunpoint by an army of lawyers:)

I think the reason might be more prosaic as it is with corporations - nobody cares enough or the problem is so severe it would cause disrupting what is left of the gaming base.

I agree but it’s hard to explain how this game has had all these problems for 2 years.

All these issues aren’t new. What’s interesting is the game runs nearly perfect on steam deck. All the issues reported don’t typically happen over here.

We can be assured that it isn’t the number of players putting strain on servers.

The problem is that whatever is wrong with the game doesn’t appear to be accidental. Whatever these problems are seem engineered.

The true problem is there is no way we will ever know the true root cause for this game specifically roasting computers. But it doesn’t happen on steam deck that I’ve seen or heard reported nearly ever. Which is interesting. Do I get crashes? Yeah I did, once in a blue moon. Maybe once a month.

It makes no sense that my steam deck was out performing a brand new i7 desktop with newest graphics card. But what do I know.

What I’m saying is there is whispers of a hidden crypto miner not because it can be proven, but because it’s a plausible explanation to why these problems persist.

There are other plausible explanations. But the fact I’ve heard it from others makes me believe it’s entirely possible. I already had my opinions, but if it’s just me it’s meaningless. When I heard it could be that from others I realized I probably wasn’t as stupid for thinking it.

It makes no sense that more graphically demanding games don’t push temps as high as Diablo 4 on average. Diablo 4 literally appears metrically to be the most demanding video game period in terms of required resources to perform.

When I open the game it doesn’t feel like my PC should be at those temps to open a loading screen. And it ain’t just me. And it ain’t the drivers. It’s alot of people, most don’t even watch their temps.

I’d be interested to see Xbox and Ps average temps when playing game. Idk how effective a hidden crypto miner would be for those platforms, I know for steam deck a hidden crypto miner probably wouldn’t even launch properly. Due to running on Linux. I doubt a small team of extortionists could code a hidden crypto miner for Linux that would remain undetectable.

But this is all hypothetical. The only way to prove anything is with data only blizzard has access to.

No issues here. game runs super smooth , 7700x , 32gb ram , 4080 super. No lag / disconnects either.

Same issue here. Game is unplayable at times

btw, in my case I also observed crashes are frequent at some locations, while the game never crashes in some.
I get a crash every time I try to do pits (which was not the case a few days back), also get frequent crashes in zakarum, but the game never crashes in infernal hordes, which is strange to say the least.

This makes a lot of sense. Especially since we are all complaining about it and so far in the past 6 months all I have heard is crickets from tech support forum when I have sent messages.

One suggestion I have seen is disable cross play but if that is an issue it is a coding issue in the game itself so they should be fixing it instead of limiting us to who we can play with. I have friends out of state that play on playstation, I am on a pc. There is no reason I should have to not play with my friends who play on something other than a pc.

It is frustrating that we paid (in my case $99 for original game and also $99 for the VoH expansion) and they don’t even care enough to send us a message back.

i crash into a black screen, chat showing but i can’t see. and it doesn’t go away. have waited minutes. the only remedy is to close the game and restart.
this happens when i travel. not sure if the destination matter but i try to avoid loading screens for this reason. and i avoid party because it’s too disruptive to crash every other twenty minutes. or more frequently if we’re switching areas often.
i’ve noticed that if i play hordes, or better yet: pit, i don’t crash too much. and i believe this is because i don’t need to load new assets. But if i suddenly go to ked bardu instead of kyovashad, i most certainly crash. also i crash if i keep porting around towns, bigger towns.
my gpu is average minus and pushes an ultrawide screen so i have to go minimum on everything. and it works alright (been needing to fix this for years) but lately these crashes have been very disruptive and they did begin with vessel of hatred, i am sure. before that, d4 was stable for me. which i have, until now, mostly blamed the gpu for. maybe there’s a different reason. This season has been most disruptive like that. i’m actually unsure if the last season was like this… i don’t think so.
