Shadow DoT damage questions

So, what attributes has impact on shadow dot damage?

In the start(aka lv54 where i am now), would it even matter if i went shadow dot damage over normal dot damage when i dont have paragon board nodes that increases the effect of shadow dot damage?
(as in, i imagine shadow dot and normal dot are identical in mechanics and damage, and shadow dot only becomes stronger when i fill out the Wither paragon board, or get affixes on gear that says shadow dot damage?)

Do any of the 4 core stats affects the damage of Dot/shadow Dot?
On gear you can get both shadow damage affix and shadow dot damage affix, would plain shadow damage buff the shadow dot damage?? (why on earth thouse two affixes are not merged into one, dont know…)

Finaly dot cant crit right? so crit chanse and crit damage are wasted on shadow dot, right?

darkness = hit.
shadow = over time. only descomponer and plague) over time damage.
explocion calaberica y tormenta(aspect) osea no son shadows no son over time damage.
glifos bug

all paragon necro bugs.
minios bugs.
only build found = bones and blood.

currently the only damage that matters for shadow dot is vulnerable. I am running a shadow dot build and its okay. It will eventually just be infinimist but ultimately the only build that currently scales into late end game is bone spear. Most of the stats don’t apply correctly or apply correctly and are terrible. Dot damage would be nice if it could crit.

As I remember, D3 scaled dot damage by medium crit, for example 300 crit damage and 40% crit chance increased all dot damage by (1+0.4*3) == 2.2 ,

They changed it for D4. Only stats that matter are vulnerable and crit. The rest are borked. Plus dots don’t scale off crit.

Dots cant crit, but darkness skills can.
Bone storm, corpse explosion and blight (initial dmg)

More hp mobs have, the more damage you do.

When in lower content, damage has no time to build up,mobs are dead in 0.1 sec ,but in 70+ you start to see the difference. Your darkness skills and dots can get up to 700 k because you have plenty of time to build up dot dmg + all procs. Few days ago i oneshot Gobling in WT4 with Blight, and i think they have around 1 mil hp

Also i heard , damage over time does not scale properly.

Damage to affected by shadow
Shadow damage
Dmg to close
Crit damage

That’s what i had on rings.

I had about 20% crit chance only, but when corpse explosion ,bonestorm and blight did crit, numbers were damn insane, especially Blight.

If you are using tendrils with your shadow build, you can use vunerable instead of crit dmg or damage to far to have both far and close because you would benefit of both all the time.

Tendrils dont pay off in low content, because mobs die too fast anyway.

Get reduced dmg from close/far and from mobs suffering dot + armor and flat % damage reduction. You will be unkillable while melting everything away except when you 1v1 elite or boss. No corpses = no damage ,that’s why i switched to bone spear.

Because Necro is the only one who can use shield,we need unique one asap + it better be good looking one too.

I just made it to 70 a few days ago, so i guess the grind begins now, only uniques i have gotten are some armor that converts some skills to frost damage…

Yea i use tendrils. Lack of bodys to set off blight has not been a problem as i get enugh from acolytes reap and ghastly blood mist. I never noticed that they did not die too fast for the tendils to not matter, maybe becoue the powerscaling keept up, or becouse i was playing in tier 4 from when i was 63, but then again i never realy need the tendris outside as a tool to group up the mobs.

deffo lacking the right gear stats, shadow dot dmg is fine now that Wither board is filled out but the tankiness is not there and i am using a 2 hand sytch as i noticed the shadow dot tick went higer then using a 1 hand, and the life on kill helps me to stay alive.

Nice to know about the crit stuff.
