Is there anyone else who thinks that adding teleports to dungeons is a stupid idea? Doesn’t it make the gameplay and having an open world and a huge map a bit shallow over time? It seems to me that it is a bit overkill and we are back to what Diablo 3 was.
I don’t think so.
Most, if not all, Nightmare farmers don’t stop on the way between waypoints & Dungeon Entrances. So having a teleport will save massive amounts of time in the long run.
You can always walk there if you feel it’s stupid. I personally wouldn’t mind because some dungeons are so far.
I like it. If I feel I want to do whispers or helltide on my way I will walk, if not, I can spam dungeons faster.
Enjoy your pointless walking to a dungeon, ill happily take the portal, some of the walks are 60-90 seconds of just mindlessness. And most of the time my keys arent for the same dungeon, so its not like leaving and spamming the same dungeon.
Teleporting to dungeons is boring, just like when they took away everybody running and waiting outside dungeons in wow.
Making people run to dungeons is not how you encourage open world gameplay. This is a great idea as long as it comes with improvements to open world rewards and experience, that’s how you encourage people out in to the world, they can be seperate and varied experiences.
Not sure what you mean about shallow gameplay, but the open world does end up feeling shallow once you enter the endgame portion of the game.
I mean, when you get to the point that you can do Nightmare dungeons or when you don’t feel the need to do Tree of Whisper bounties or have seen what the Helltide has to offer, the open world just feels like window dressing and in some respects unnecessary.
Especially if you finish out your Renown farming.
I can only speak for myself but what prevented me from running more than one dungeon at a time was that I’d have to port and run to the next one. I only did more than one when my next dungeon was next to a waypoint anyways. Being able to chain-run them will feel better. This doesn’t take me out of the open world at all. I still run events, legions, world bosses, tree of whispers and hell tides a lot more than dungeons because I find them more fun and that’ll stay. But the walk to the same dungeon for the third time isn’t going to be excieting. It also doesn’t populate the maps more, quiet the opposit. When 6 out of 8 slots are filled by people just taking the bus to the next dungeon entrance, you have 6 people less on your map participating in the open world. I feel like this will be a good change all around.

Other than side quest my 2nd biggest gripe is heading to any dungeon let alone coming across a barrier with 2 skeletons standing on it causing you to dismount kill them wait 10s to get back on the horse
You already teleport half way to the dungeon, Blizzard are just making the final step less irritating.
Stop Farmers is a better option
Why even have a world - just login - dropdown text menu of dungeons = instant teleport? Not need to develop any content we could just play against a Spreadsheet!

For me, it’s not a problem to run 30 seconds in a game through the open world to reach my destination. Even for the 1000th time
It’s not some hours of running, or even minutes - just some seconds - you can always meet a goblin or other useless activity along the way - but always something - not just mindlessly teleporting to the entrance, at the ready. It’s best to introduce 100lvl boost for money right away and not play this game at all. In my opinion, this is making the game easier for bots and making the game for HARDcore farmers, not for the typical player. To me this is stripping the game of content.
You just said that Dungeon Farmers love Nightmare teleports…farmers are like 1% of players. Majority of players doesn’t mind running 5-10 minutes to get to the dungeon, it’s part of game.
Blizzard even said that they want D4 to be slower then D3 , more about journey not the quick smash and log out. I think there shouldn’t be an option to teleport to dungeon, there should be little town nearby.
Multiply it for, lets say, 4.000 dungeons every season.
