Why games have to be dumbed down to LCD

Why games have to be dumbed down to where you can get to the end by rushing through in week or even paying CC
Why must generic top gear fill your packs for killing a few trash mobs
I want a game to last 1000s or hrs take months even years to play
Find truly powerful and unique items but have to kill the most powerful bosses and take dedication to get not buy it with a cc
Why bother buying a game if you not going to play it and rush to the end then complain because there is no content or you are not geared with the top gear

Well Diablo 4 seems to be the game for you considering Shako/Grandfather have a drop rate of 1 in every 500-600 years of /played time. Diablo 4 also has Uber Lilith, which is by far the hardest boss in any Diablo game or ARPG released.

No credit card can will give you Grandfather Sword or allow you to solo Uber Lilith.

Agree. Unfortunately game companies are catering to Speedrunners who want to buy game, smash buttons and finish in 2 hours. Then they come to forums to say game is trash because there’s nothing to do.

They play for 2 hours and then say the game is trash because they haven’t picked up 52 Grandfathers. How can a game be trash just because an item hasn’t dropped for you?

Some weird genetic experiment …

Same reason tik tok is growing. Everything has to be fast, give fast results and has to have lots of bling bling and achievements. A very questionable direction we are moving towards since those achievements are worth nothing.

True again. Look at the latest Final Fantasy game. There are endless complaints that the game is far too easy with zero challenge.

Why? To make it accessable to the button smashers who will cry if they have to spend more than 10 seconds on the final boss.

Game companies must produce good games but if it is just an endless kiddie appeasing fest then the industry is doomed.

But you missed the dudes main point. It’s that TOO MUCH gear is dropping amongst other things. Which I agree. The fact that the imprint system is in the game, effectively turns every legendary into a mod piece for a yellow item. So, by using it as a mod-ing system, the drop rate has to be high enough to accommodate gear changes while leveling. But by this same design philosophy, legendaries are like a dime a dozen. I have, no joke, as of right now, 4 full stash tabs of legendaries that I can’t even bring myself to disenchant because there is no way to sort them by Legendary Affix.
Also, as a side note, i got very very close to bis ancestral weapons since level 65. What am I to do now? Quit the game at level 65? Is it done? Hunt for a 3% more dps item for several hundred hours?
The loot system is in a very bad spot, because the developers thought it would be smart to go against the grain of the arpg industry and design the itemization system last, instead of first.

Well , you should still be busy with the story around Act 3 and nowhere near end game, bis, capstone etc. Too many players Speedrunned the campaign and are asking ā€˜what now?’ that’s not Blizzards fault.

*Not enough gear is dropping with current itemization system.

That kind of game never existed
it is only in your mind

Nobody is complaining the game is trash because Grandfather hasn’t dropped ā€œfor themā€. People are complaining because Grandfather hasn’t dropped for anyone, among millions of players and many millions of hours played there has not been a single confirmed Grandfather drop.

When you do the math on these kinda figures you will find these items are impossible to find. Shako has dropped, but with all factors considered (number of drops, estimated playtime hours, lvl85 monster requirement etc) the time to beat the odds for Shako is to play for 8 hours a day for 1700 years for one Shako.

Now if you think an item being that rare is fine, cool, but we can both agree unless science brings some pretty big immortality level advancements in your lifetime that you’re not going to be around in the year 3723. Just perhaps we can logically and reasonably come to the conclusion that Blizzard should increase the drop chance substantially, so that it would be at least possible to see at least one of these items drop during a 3 month season, for a dedicated player.

Well that’s awesome if Grandfather drops once a century. Well done Blizzard. That’s what we want.

D2 and D1 any 4x stratagy game good rpg games like wizardry

You should not need items to beat the game you should get a small chance of getting item if you manage to beat the boss
It should be you might get 1/4 blue items maybe 1 rare a week a one legendary a season for beating lilith
Maybe a unique drops once for special event
Not every body should have or need legendary items they should only be giving to the most dedicated players
not everybody should be able to 1 shot bosses should take skill and dedication to beat a boss or multiple bosses in a season

But this had nothing to do with game should be 1000 hours and years
this is just bad itemization problem and with that i agree
it’s cringe that most of my gear is legendary i don’t like i would like to leggos drop from a specific places and they should be unique only so if you drop it now your build is change
aspect system is in my opinion too much

I walked through this game on the hardest setting available. Is that my fault? I’m no button smasher.

Should I have tied a hand behind my back or should the game developer provide multiple difficulty levels?

The campaign was far too easy.

Most games these days give 60-100 hours of gameplay to complete, I didn’t time Diablo 4 but it fell short by a long margin.

Itemization is just a part of it it’s way too generous
You should not get top legionary items to roll though bosses and campaign
Game scaling makes it too easy
being able to CC items because they drop like rain and always available
Bosses should be very hard to beat I am not just talking about twitch avoiding attacks or they one shotting you either
But with resistances and ability that take more than just blasting them with massive dps

Thats what YOU want.

So you want:

  • Super rare loot drops in general
  • A lot of time gating of content
  • Lots of RNG systems piling up each other

Making good content that lasts forever is not as easy as you think. I have spoken in the last few months with several individual game developers and it is actually mind-blowing how simple features can take days to even work correctly, based on the used game engine.

Don’t assume it is so easy to do. Even in 5 years development time it can be quite hard to push out a quality product with lots of features and content.

even worst after MS acquisition.

like I said games used to take months /years to get to the end
Every item used to be special and you never got everything
Now you need instant gratification and everybody feels entailed to get top gear
While graphics and QQL stuff used to be minimal story and immersion made up for it
It used to take skill play a game you had to read and experiment
Developers were gamer and made the games for themselves rather than dollars
Last great diablo was D2 before RTM and gold selling got involved
Now if it’s rush the end and then brag and complain how easy it was
Gold gear must rain down to make it easy strip out anything that you have to think about or take time
All characters must be nerfted to blandness so everybody can win easily
