Why is no one talking about the significantly reduced blood and gore effects in Diablo 4?

Watch Blizzcon 2019 Diablo 4 demo footage with barb and you will be shocked that they cut out nearly all gory combat effects… This needs to get attention of the devs, it was so much more satisfying with a lot more gore!

Probably caused performance issues.

What did you expect from devs that code on the phones.

Should be an option…
Turn on gore.
Turn off gore.

If it were to become an option I’d prefer it to be like…

Off > Low > Moderate > High > Extreme

Rather than a simple off/on switch.

Thanatos simply nailed it. :ok_hand:

Don’t worry those greedy bastards will add it in premium battlepass lol

More gore do not equal a better game. Hopefully a on/off gore option will be added before release.

They want to please a world wide market and keep the pegi numbers low to have more possible customers. Easy.

And with the extreme option I’d like some of the nudity added back in please, this is a Adult Rated game afterall.

As someone that thoroughly enjoyed Splatterhouse, Carmageddon (with the gore patch), the quake series and of course, Manhunt. I think a balance is needed, and there are splatters of blood and gore, charred flesh and bones, and literally exploding corpses.

Over the top gore cheapens the aesthetic for this game. This game is simply stunning, in fact speaking of gore I hope they tweak the necromancer corpses, little too much d3 in their colour palette… Like they chose oxygenated blood over deoxygenated blood for the colour source. Dear Devs, Google “Morphology of drying blood pools”

Loved that game back in the day.

We had to hide it from my friend’s very Strict Baptist Mother.

But yeah, it was so much fun being the antihero in a Friday the 13th style Double Dragon game.

Did you play Shadow of the Beast?

This is the first time hearing about it, must of missed due to it being released on amiga. I played alot of the Horror games in the arcade as didnt want the parents to know I was playing them.

Funnily enough they had no issues with me buying Mortal Kombat

Nice. I loved going down to the boardwalk for some Pit Fighter! Yeah, I was really lucky as a kid and got every console. TurboGrafx 16 is what I played it on. Splatterhouse was on it too. Was technically the better console of the generation, but the format of games on an SD style card, like the Atari Lynx’s games, made them expensive.

Seeing the church murder cutscene this already is an adult game. More blood and gore during gamplay and nudity would benefit the game at that point.

I don’t mind (the lack of) gore. A slider/ option for it would be good for people who need more of it.

Blizzard don’t want to cheapen their game’s artistic style because some kids think over the top “b movie horror” style gore is “funny”.

I trust they will keep it dark and bloody without ruining the aesthetic with cartoon levels of silly blood for the kiddos.

Sorry guy but thats a bad take. Its not about over the top gore. But when i slice the hell out of something i expect some form of blood splatters on the floor and blood pooling after the carnage.
The game is already mature rated and the absence of blood on the floor is just baffling for a game such as this. Which even in its basic form in the 90’s had blood on the floor.
I bet they disabled the splatters cus consoles were having performance issues since even the bodies disappear in literal seconds.
It all should of been an option for people with CPU/GPU performance to spare.
