I dont see anything to work towards in the eternal realm, it is just a graveyard for dead characters? I dont like seasonal play. I assume the game is not for me?

Eternal is just a bank for seasonal, the only mode ment to be played was season. Why else do you think battlepass progession is not active on eternal?
To play eternal you have to not give a crap about the game, and never buy the battlepass.
This is indeed a seasonal game, ment to be played in seasons. Eternal is not entirely without purpose, but it does by definition miss out on seasonal content.
Things to work towards on eternal would be maxing out your character and hunting for achievments.
If the above mentioned does not interest you, and you have no interest in seasonal play, i would agree, that maybe this game is not for you.
That being said, i do think Blizzard should work out a better leaderboard system, both for seasonal and eternal. Personally i dont participate in leaderboards, im not very competitive by nature, but i sympathise with those who are, D4 needs a competitive aspect for those interested in such things.
Blizzard need to create a seasonal realm as their solution to give you fresh stash space. Otherwise your game will stop function as you have to drop every loot you collected on the ground when you reach mid season.
What ever other reason you hear is none sense as there are many life service game with seasonal content like Modern Warfare, Division 2 and many would not require you to start your character from Zero. As none of them has this innovative Stash design. If you remember Blizzard dev informed the reason why your stash space is limited because your whole inventory will be loaded into the server for all the players in the zone whenever you meet anyone in the game and caused massive lag. Like others player in the game care about I have a Victoria Secret underware in my stash.
