Combustion working correct?

I have been wondering for a while now if the Mage spell “Combustion” is working as one might expect from the spell description.
“Deal 4 damage to a minion. Any excess damages both neighbors.”

I understand this as: deal 4 damage to a minion. If the damage dealt is greater than the healt the target has left, the excess damages both neighbors.

This works fine with “normal” targets, but as soon as there is a Divine Shield things get weird.

A Divine Shield absorbs any amount of damage dealt at once. If I shoot a Fireball at a DS minion the shield absorbs all 6 damage dealt by the fireball. If I play a spell like “Mask of C’thun” that shoots 10 individual bolts, then each individual bolt does damage and the total is not dealt at once, meaning that each individual bolt can hit the DS and be absorbed, thus breaking the DS after which each bolt can also damage the minion that had DS.

What I think is weird, is that when Combustion is played on, say, a 1 health DS minion, the DS does NOT absorb the 4 damage dealt by combustion, but only absorbs 1 and then deals the “remaining” 3 to the neighbors. Why? The DS SHOULD absorb the entire 4 damage leaving no excess to damage neighboring minions…

Not that this is a gamebreaking problem or anything, but in my opinion it is not working correct…
