Random disconnects (past 2 weeks)

Hi there

I have been experiencing over the past 2 weeks random disconnects in Hearthstone.

In one Ranked game I on average disconnect 15 times. And luckily enough the game reconnects instantly after.

I’ve been digging into my network, network drivers and tested a couple of things. Here are my results:

  1. I’ve been using 3 different wireless connections. 3 different SSID’s. I happen to have 2 different wi-fi networks at home and I even turned the 4G-signal into a wi-fi hotspot, the problem persisted.

  2. Ah, a network driver issue, you might say? My network drivers are up-to-date on my gaming laptop. Or at least that’s what Windows 10 tells me in the Device Manager.

  3. IF it would be a network issue on my side, I would not be able to play WoW Classic, Destiny 2 without having the same random disconnects, however these games play without any problems. I even made a batch-script which simply pings the Google IP and I run it instantaneously when the DC happens making an automatic log and save that log on my desktop. The batch-script is bound to one my keys of my mouse. In that script and the logs I do not see any packet loss or any high latency of any sorts.

  4. This problem does not occur on my Android smartphone.

  5. I have no access to an Ethernet Cat5E-cable of a minimum length of 3meters in order to test such wired connections. I might grant myself access to such a cable in order to test it. But as we speak (or rather type) I have no possibility to do this test.

So far, all the things I’ve done on my side, before I came to the forums and cry out for some help.

I have lost solo play on the last boss a couple of times, just because of a DC even with treasures, buckets and card advantage that made me think I could have won that fight. (No worries, I won in the end after a couple of runs anyway, but still, sucks to ‘loose’ cuz of a DC at the 8th boss)

I have only lost 1 ranked play due to this. Today I’ve been having again approximately 15 dc’s / ranked play. Yes, it’s that insane. This number might also be explained because I play a Galakrond priest and just stall the game untill my power yields me the fatigue victory.

Any help from the community would be appreciated.

Windows 10 will always tell you that you have the best drivers installed for your network device when it doesn’t have any to provide. This will be the case for pretty much all network cards.
