Taking an L when disconnected

TL;DR - Disconnect/Failure to reconnect should not result in a loss, but as a non-game for the player that disconnects, and a win for the opponent.

I haven’t found any information elsewhere about this yet so I figured it’s best to ask here.

I play Hearthstone on my mobile and use my unlimited 4G data as my source of internet. At peak times, there can be a lag or often the game is slow to load, which is to be expected. However, when I am in a ranked battle, and I am disconnected without a successful reconnect, I loss stars. It seems unfair that the player gets penalised for an issue out of their control. Failure to reconnect should result in a win for the opponent and should not affect the disconnected player at all. On countless occasions, I have been dominating an opponent, a board full on minions with buffed stats and effects that the likelihood of the opponent recovering to take the win is astronomically low, and I am hit with a disconnection, failure to reconnect, and a loss on my streak.

I can only speculate how much better my rank would be had I not disconnected at the most inopportune times.

I hope this is something the devs can do something about.

Thanks for reading, hope everyone’s staying safe and washing their hands and paying their taxes.

This would be exploited, players disconnecting on purpose if in a losing position.

There must be a way of differentiating a manual disconnect from a genuine connection failure.
