I was able to temporarily play against friend by having both of us open HS client on another server and then back to the server we were going to play again. But this only worked for one time. Next time, we needed to do this again. But today, even this doesn’t work any more.

I had the same issue today. I could not challenge people on the same LAN but I could challenge people who were not on the same internet as me. I guess my brother has to wait for me to destroy him until they fix this in a couple of expansions or so.

I am not sure if it was fixed by patch or really helps - but we swapped from EU servers to Asia → played tutorial and 1 game of BG, then back to EU servers and now we dont have such problem

Well the issue remains
I encounter the problem pretty much all the time with my boyfriend when we are on the same internet… nothing fixes it, except waiting for a moment where it finally wants to work

Issue remains for me as well.
I can’t even watch his matches - even the chat when I click opens a ‘enable chat screen to approve’ which doesnt normally happen.

Same issue here. Been following this post for a while now. Can confirm no improvements since after patch. All suggestions above haven’t fixed anything. Occasional “Play a BG game solo” would then allow invites afterwards?

There have been rare, rare occasions (1/20~) where one player can invite the other - but if the lobby is disbanded, it immediately returns to neither player being able to invite.

I have noticed today that chat messages to Blizz friends needs to be enabled with every relaunch of the game? (Friends list → Click on friend → “Turn on Chat Messages” prompt). I am unsure if this could possibly be linked.

Having my friend swap to an alternative account, and myself remaining on the same one, however, allowed for us both to invite each other.

I’m hoping this is a priority to fix. This has been through several updates now and is killing the game for me.

This is also behaviour that we are experiencing. Unfortunately the issue does not seems resolved at this point.

Same issue here, for weeks now. We all have to keep restarting the game. It feels like playing Russian Roulette. Either works or it doesn’t.

I didn’t used to have the problem but now as of latest patch I do. I tried everything and I’m giving up. You really need to fix your game.
