Weird disconnect behavior?

Hey, I’ve encountered a weird behavior of this game which, after a bit of googling, looks like a connection issue thing but it’s kinda weird.

I’ve had this happen two times now in the past 2 days and both times I’ve been playing against a mage, idk if that’s correlation or causation but anyways - What happens ist that the enemy holds a card over the board and keeps hovering it, the game does not start the rope timer and I can still see the enemy hovering over his cards in hand an even emote sometimes (I myself can emote too). The first time nothing helped… I restarted the game after 5 minutes to see that I’m back at the main menu again, alright whatever. The second time this happened I restarted my game after 2 minutes just to get “reconnected” to my previous game which my opponent has happily kept playing while it seems my rope just burned over and over again giving him free turns while basically “skipping” my own turns.

Now, I’m not going to say that this is not an issue on my end. I’ve been playing on WLAN so I expect some connection drops here and there even though I’m sitting right next to my Access Point BUT how on earth come that the game just keeps playing in the background while my client doesn’t even bother trying to reconnect? Why do I have to “guess” that it’s happening again and restart my client on my own to get reconnected. That’s kinda ridiculous.

Did this happen to anybody else yet?

I haven’t had it especially of late but I have it maybe a few times a year. What happens is you get disconnected at the other end i.e. the server end. If you ever see a card hovering for more than a few seconds, close and restart the game ASAP. Worst case you’re have a few seconds less for your next turn.

This used to be a bigger problem back when there wasn’t any reconnection and it was just an auto loss. Now it’s just an occasional inconvenience.

Well I wouldn’t really call it an “inconvenience” since restarting your game could take some while depending on your computer (which is not an issue for me but maybe for some others).

I just find it ridiculous that Blizzard isn’t just auto-reconnecting your client and you have to manually close and open your client to “fix it”.

I mean I do it on my phone which is gona be slower that the majority of cpus. Even if it takes you a minute you still have time to play out your turn.

I have to admit i have no idea how easy it is too have such a system as every other PvP game I’ve ever played doesn’t do that (they usually exit the current match or close the whole game). I’d guess that it’s either incredibly difficult or incredible expensive to detect the DC and have it auto-reconnect.

True but also don’t underestimate current mobile cpus. They can be more performant than some old desktops which some still use. Had a friend who played WoW with a 10 yo Pc with like 10-15fps max.

That being said - Blizz should at least implement some kind of notification like “oops, something doesn’t seem right with your connection” or something. Idk, it’s just frustrating and as you’ve mentioned, pretty much every other PvP game has this.

My pc is 8 years old at this point and is faster than my 3 year old (guess) phone so that was my only reference and I never miss a turn due to this. Then again I love Noz day so maybe so having less time doesn’t bother me :grinning_face_with_smiling_eyes:

manz using haxx to disconnect you den dey win the game

I have had this same issue several times the last few days. At least 4 times on mobile AND on pc.

Well not exactly the same, but I don’t see any rope, I can see arrows flying over the screen from my enemies selecting his attacks but I can’t do sheet about it. Restarting the game has not yet worked out for me. Really frustrating, lost about 3k rating with these losses.

I also filmed this twice but I guess I can’t upload those here
