why does HotS download a patch twice?
First time on Battle.Net App
Second time after starting the updated game (now there is a small window showing “preparing game data” but it seems to download again…)
Any ideas?
It’s especially frustrating as I’m tethered to a cell phone for play.
Bandwidth and latency are fine enough for play, but download speeds for updates makes it take 3 hours for the first update, then 4-5 for the second update.
We are aware of the issue and it’s something that I saw brought up recently, so hopefully there will be some changes to this in the near future I hope!
There’s sadly no way to circumvent this right now though.
This “preparing game data” window has been coming up for a very long time now. It’s not new, and it’s impossible to find information on.
What is this second update window supposed to accomplish, and why is it necessary?
There is no known reason as to why this is happening.
But it is still occurring even on the August2020 update.
I can only confirm the bug investigation is still open, so it’s something that we are aware of with the game, I just can’t put an ETA on when the issue may be addressed.
