I went through this 3 times last year. First a 2 week ban, then a one month ban, then another, and each time it would say the same thing âviolations of the code of conductâ and any time I reached out to support I would just get an automated email saying the ban will stay in place.
I have a feeling the bans were due to me typing in chat things like âteam we gotta group up if we wanna winâ or âletâs combo ultsâ. I donât really use voice chat anymore in OW2 since the team comms has really gone down and whereas in OW1 I would find teams of all 5-6 players talking and having a really fun game working together, in OW2 it seems almost impossible to ever find a pub team where all 5 are in voice. So I just used chat.
After those 3 bans and basically taking half the year off from playing, I realized that itâs better not to say anything to anyone any more, even if itâs competitive and the point is to actually win and work together as a team. Ever since I stopped talking to people the bans stopped.
Just like in OW1, blizzard really doesnât take much pride in their report system. Itâs tick based so enough people report you over the course of a week for telling them to combo ults, youâll get a ban and I believe thatâs what happened. You basically have to play OW2 like an NPC, donât talk, donât have an opinion, and donât ever tell your team to group up or combo ults, because the reports will start racking up and before long you have 10 soy boys reporting you just because they think âyouâre taking comp too seriously and ruining my vibe, here take this reportâ and viola, youâre banned for a month.
Anyway, as Iâve said numerous times, theyâve ruined what OW was and are now finally realizing it and backtracking to 6v6. The report system will never be fixed. They couldnât even deliver the PVE campaign when they forced us to switch to OW2, so I doubt the report system will ever be fixed and taken seriously. Like always, itâs tick based. You get enough reports for playing Torb, bam, account banned. It doesnât have to make sense.
And the craziest thing of all is Blizzard is a multi million dollar gaming company. They could have dedicated a team to solely clean up the report system and review account before bans years ago, but itâs just not a priority for them, and this thread is just one example out of many where it just doesnât work properly.
