Get rid of F2P model

I understand the sentiment that friends want to play together. I dont understand that blizzard doesnt understand that its the most abused mechanic.

  • First of get rid of the automated reporting (no i wasnt reported, with the fear that the stack is gonna report me, i dont even open my mouth, great Defense Matrix Initiative)
  • Cheater stacks, daily occurence now
  • Wide stack, go meet it up with another wide stack WITHOUT!!! a solo, i dont care if they have to wait 10mins, 15, 45mins to 2 hours… im not your stepping stone. My time is as valuable to me as you time is to you, if you break that chain of respect why should I reward your insolence with my money? answer me this pls baby girl blizzard, answer me this alone, if nothing else!

This game is fun when you aint constantly being bootlegged by the system, it was more fun when it was behind a pay wall. “Pay wall”, how come 20$ is something to fret at when a homeless unemployed meth junkie can find their fix within a day. From what I gathered meth costs 10 to 400$ a gram. Yes Im implying that F2P OW accounts are less worth than a meth heads daily hustle.

I feel like you took the F2P monatization demo from 2012 by heart and trying to go strong with it. OW, aint that type of open world MMO from the last century type game.

For those of you who dont know what im talking about, F2P models have 80% of players not paying anything but their existence of playing the game and being semi-content themselves, aka MMO F2P model, and the 20% bring in the reveanue. How did this even popped up in the upper management meetings?

In its current state the only reason why ATVI stock is going up is WoW weebs buying anything you put out there. Im an OW weeb, I would buy everything if it had a solid foundation of solidarity. Thats only achievable by a contract, between a selling and a buying party, which is not the case in F2P OW(2).

Would prefer them to put in a Premium Competitive. For ones who have paid for it.
They can keep the F2P if they want to, but they do need to improve the competitive player and the balance.

NO! Im sry that i disagree. A playerbase needs to steer a certain direction.

I mean, this cheater crap, we cant change anything about that as players. Besides ban, and I know certain ppl dont ban them because they just got their first win in weeks or something like that.

That has got to be one of the worst suggestions you’ve had.

I don’t care for your opinion

Good to know. Won’t stop me giving it though.

That’s fine, I’ll continue ignoring it.

I think the reason there is so many cheaters (more than normal) is because the ban wave literally just happened. And the cheaters know they have alot of time before the next one. So they are playing now because they know they wont be banned in bulk for atleast another 6 months to a year.

What do the poor people like me do then? Get put with cheaters??? Maybe you should think through abit more. Like maybe if someome has a certain amount of wins or hours on the game then they get put with people who have similar hours. So spam accounts from cheaters wont effect the games of people who have played for ages. Smthn like that. But the whole premise of overwatch2 being F2P was so everyone could enjoy it. Taking that away would defeat the purpose.

People have very short memories.l, and seem I have forgotten Concord.

You stick a monetary barrier for entry… You have significantly less players.

Even OW1 should have taught people that. And when your game lives and dies on being able to have as many people playing as possible. Making it free is the best way forward.

Then you’re only competing with the game industries mortal nemesis. Time. Players only have so much time to play, will they pick your game…

Not a bad suggestion didn’t counterstrike do something like that?

Blizzard could even make a fair bit of money that way…

Do what we did in the past - buy it.
Blizzard could always base it on previous ownership of OW.

They can, casually.

Yep, but some people choose to not look beyond the box of Blizzard

Didn’t realise Blizzard made Concord…

U miss the point. Not everyone who plays overwatch 2 owned overwatch 1. I for one didnt. Its just unessesary to make people pay for the game when it seems like (from all the complaining i see on these forums) that people are unhappy overall with the game as it is. Why would you gove people another reason to dislike the game.
For 1: they make enough money on the Kiri skins alone,
2. Having competitive behind a pay wall would probably ruin the matchmaking and enjoyment of the game mode overall.

Blizzards (And Overwatch’s) reputation is already awful. Doing this would cause an outrage. People who either couldnt pay for competitive/dont want to would then be forced to play in QP. If I remember correctly awhile back and even now people were complaining about the ‘sweatiness’ of quickplay. Because the fact of their rank going down deterred people from playing comp. Imagine the increase in this issue if u make competitive even more exclusive and isolating. This would only end up in competitive being made up of two kinds of people:
Streamers/very high level players and…
Long time dedicated players who have money to waste.

To put this long answer short: there is almost nothing good that could come from putting comp behind a paywall. For the players or Overwatch’s reputation.

It would most likely kill the game.

So, if that is your objective, it is a great idea. But for anyone else, terrible.

No point missed. It was GOTY in 2016, got many awards and many players playing OW over the years, until developers neglected the game.

People were happy with OW even with it being behind a paywall.

OW2 is recieving the complaints. Check out Metacritic on OW vs OW2.

Matchmaking was far more superior in OW. Matches were more fun. No one sided matches.

It was. The world was very different 8 years ago. Since then Fortnite came out and changed peoples gaming habits, and showed the numbers people how much money can be made doing it another way.

And when you are competing with other games for the most limited of resources, peoples time, you need to reduce the barriers to entry.

Making your game free, and optimising the engine so that it can be played on a broader spectrum of machines (ie cheaper PCs), is the best way to go. And in terms of getting people in to play it has worked. Player numbers keeping steady now, even seeing good increases. Your beloved steam saw a 13.7% increase in August alone. Not bad considering what people did to the review score.

It has. And PUBG came out before Fortnite.

CS2 is also F2P, and ranked queues can be access via Prime status.

God how I miss OW. Was way better than the current broken mess. F2P is to blame.

Indeed. But Fornite captured the mainstreams attention. And was swimming in cash.

As Concord showed, pay to play isn’t going to work in a game like this any more. The market is over saturated. Why would you pay, when there are decent free options available.
